Hey Guys. Its time for an upgrade and since I haven't kept up much with current hardware I would like some advice on what I should buy. I don't game as much as I used to but I would like a decent enough video card to be happy with most games and run two monitors and a TV for media. I would also like it to be as silent as possible.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
It will double as an HTPC and my main gaming and work (coding) computer.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1500 with tax and shipping but I would like to keep the price down as low as makes sense.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
San Antonio, TX
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, RAM, case, motherboard, video card, SSD, bluray drive, case fans, CPU fan/heatsink
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Brand new 650W SeaSonic PSU, two 3TB hard drives, dual monitors, and an HD TV
6) Will you be overclocking?
no
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
27" 1920x1080, 19" 1280x1024 (only used while coding), 47" 1080P TV (only used for watching media)
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
In a week or two
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
I need RAID 1.0 support for the two 3GB hard drives
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
No. I will need to get a copy of windows
