Got another build for you guys. A friend is looking to upgrade his old machine, with a $700 limit. He's very, very excited for Battlefield 3, and really wants a comp that can run it. I know the game doesn't release till the end of October, but he really wants to build now. Other games include TF2 and StarCraft 2. The rundown:
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming (primarily for Battlefield 3), common usage (internet, Office, etc.), 1080p playback
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$700, tax and shipping included (can't go over at all)
3) Where do you live?
California (there's a Fry's near by, but not a Microcenter)
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, mobo (preferably ASUS), case, GPU card, RAM, PSU, HDD
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Monitor (see specs below), keyboard, mouse, speakers
6) Will you be overclocking?
Most likely not
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
19" (1280x1024)...yes, I know you're laughing, but he does plan to replace it in the next few months with at least one, maybe two 1080p monitor(s)- probably somewhere in the 22" to 24" range
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within the week
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
USB 3, SATA 6
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, Windows 7 64-bit
