ive an antec newpower 500w powersupply running an i5-750 and a geforce 260.

im using cpuid's hardware monitor and this is what it's reporting:

Hardware monitor Fintek F71889F
Voltage 0 3.30 Volts [0xCE] (+3.3V)
Voltage 1 1.32 Volts [0xA5] (CPU VCORE)
Voltage 2 1.70 Volts [0x6A] (VIN2)
Voltage 3 1.39 Volts [0x76] (VIN3)
Voltage 4 5.76 Volts [0x89] (+5V)
Voltage 5 9.86 Volts [0x70] (+12V)
Voltage 6 1.47 Volts [0x5C] (VIN6)
Voltage 7 3.30 Volts [0xCE] (VSB3V)
Voltage 8 3.17 Volts [0xC6] (VBAT)

my question is...is my 12v running low or am i reading or figuring something wrong? says "9.86." shouldn't that be more near 12v? perhaps this is why my computer keeps freezing even though my temps never go over 52c for my cpu.

thanks for the help.

HWmonitor probably just doesn't have a proper profile for the way your motherboard's sensors are set up. Try using the software that came with your mobo. You can never really trust these measurements anyway though. Measure with a multimeter if you want an accurate reading.

I don't think your system would even boot if the 12V rail was at < 10V.

thanks keenan. you were right. installed mainboard software and 12v read 12.056 on that.

Software measurements are essentially useless unfortunately. Gotta use that multimeter every time.

QFT.

No matter what profile you use, what mainboard software you use, no software in the world will EVER be accurate or even close to accurate when it comes to reading PSU voltages. As Blue Fox and Keenan have said, you need to use a multimeter:
