Help w/ GF's box

So after much too long, I'm getting my GF's box running again. Right now here are the specs...

Pentium 4HT 3.0
Intel 915 Mobo (OEM, Locked:mad:)
3GB DDR-400
Radeon 4850
Windows 7 RC

This past weekend I took it to a lanparty to break it in and make sure nothing was wrong with it. It never once failed, but seemed HORRBLY slow compared to what I'm running. Even with graphics turned down (res @ 1680x1050, easy for the card.) CPU bottleneck even with graphic options turned down?

Played...
GRID (most noticeable, rames dipped into single digits)
CoD4 (Ran ok, couldn't snipe for sh!t tho)
CoD5 (Incredibly slow load times)

Everything else was pretty smooth tho. Maybe I thought this machine would have more oomph... am I asking too much out of it?
 
CPU sucks too much. Imagine a AMD 64 3000+ running those games if you are more used to AMD.
COD4 min specs:

You just hit the MINIMUM specs.
 
Well hell, didn't even look at the minimum specs for these when I loaded them. Guess she'll be getting a new new box for PDXlan.
 
As someone else said your expecting a bit too much, your CPU is defintely holding you back a lot.
 
Only way to get more performance out of the same computer would be to replace the computer with a pentium d cpu, but in reality I wouldn't actually do that. It's probably for the best if you just built a new computer, while keeping the same GPU, case, PSU etc if you can.
 
He just needs to replace the CPU/motherboard/RAM. Which will probably run him around 200$(less if he really wants to cheap out).
 
The 915 chipset doesn't support any dual-core chips, so your best option to get some decent performance out of that thing would be to upgrade to an inexpensive mATX board and a Pentium Dual-Core (deceptive name; they're really lower-end C2Ds) at the very least.
