ok so i just pulled my old Dell latitude d620 out of the closet and ive decided to try and fix it.
the laptop has been sitting on a shelf for 2 years ever since the problem started happening. basically one day it just stopped working. it powers on, the dell logo and loading bar appear and then once the loading is finished the screen goes black, i briefly see an underscore flash at the top left of the screen and then it disappears. the screen stays powered on but no windows loading screen or anything will come up no matter how long i wait.
i can access the bios, but i cannot get into the os. im looking for my old xp home disk so i can try to reinstall, but until then i thought i would pick [H]'s collective brain and see if anyone has any ideas. im thinking could be a fried HDD or possibly mobo? id really like to try and figure out what the issue is before is start spending money to fix it, but if i can get it working on the cheap that would be great as i dont currently have a working laptop.
