Help regarding USB2.0/USB1.1

I have the following mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813135151

It clearly states that I have 4 USB 2.0 slots.

However, when I connect something that requires USB 2.0 it gives me a warning that says it's connected to a USB 1.1 port and that it probably won't work. So what the heck is going on?

Background: I have Windows XP Pro with SP2. I checked my bios, and USB2.0 Support was enabled with the EHCI controller, and there were some more options regarding whether or not I wanted the USB to use a PCI bus or some other thing (started with an e). I have no idea what these meant so I left them be.
 
What are the USB 2.0 devices that you are using?
 
Go into the Device Manager, and look for "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller". If it doesn't say enhanced, you'll know Windows is recognizing the controller as a USB 1.1 device.

But why aren't they 2.0? And is there a way I can make them 2.0 or is this capture device unusable until I upgrade motherboards. I'm getting a new computer in about 2 months anyway so I'm not going to buy a USB2.0 PCI card.
 
I am not sure how to enable USB2.0, but have you tried using the capture device yet? I know a lot of things say they require UBS 2.0, but will work fine with 1.1. It might just be slower.
 
Are you connecting directly to the ports on the motherboard, or those that are on the case? Because if you have an older case, and connecting to the USB ports may be 1.1. However, if you are connecting directly to the motherboard and it is reporting USB 1.1, then you definately have a problem. Try checking the BIOS?
 
I tried using USB 1.1 for my purposes (which is to play my PS2 using my monitor for a screen because my tv died). It didn't work too well. The video sucked when it worked, and it kept crashing. Audio was a no.

So yeah. I am using the USB ports on the back which are connected directly to the mobo. But it doesn't really matter because in the device manager none of them are specified as "enhanced."
 
i reformated a friends computer and this happned to me, i updated some drivers and then the worked as 2.0.
 
Usually you just have to install XP service pack 2 to get USB 2.0, but sometimes you need a special driver. There may be a setting in the BIOS for USB 2.0.
 
in the device manager is there any device listed in the USB section with the yellow question mark next to it? I've dealt with several mobos that had a habit of not installing their EHCI driver on their own when SP2 is installed. If that's the problem it's easy to fix...just tell windows to automatically update the device's driver and it'll sort it all out for you.
