Ok well i got a amd 4000+ amd clawhammer socket 939 and i overlcocked it well being a fucking retard i used a program, now the computer restarts randomly and errors pop up, its a hard restart no screen no nothing. I guess thats all i have to say for now just wondering what you smarter people think. its not my video card becuase i would see lines threw the monitor and its not the memory becuase it wouldnt be able to start up. I have a 780gt and i was looking into watercooling and now i am fucked. my temps are at 42*c for my cpu with no load. I reformated and system restored and still happenes.

So thanks for your help.

Um... run memtest to check your ram. Could possibly be your powersupply. You couldve also damaged your processor.

What motherboard do you have? Power supply? Ram? What program did you use.... ?

I'd suggest doing a bios reset and getting the system back to default speeds. Then asses the damage from there.

;)
clear your CMOS. (locate and pull off the CMOS jumper on your board, then put it back on - or pop the battery out for a minute then put it back it in..

If it does not solve your problems, then a component(s) may be bad.

Clear you CMOS and start OCing on a fresh(default) BIOS.

I assumed he wouldve already tried all that seeing as how he has reformated and such... clearing Cmos is the first step to troubleshoot. =p.

it should be, but does he know that?

also, the artifacts described sound sorta like gpu artifacts. did the program overclock the video card too?

i have a lan party mobo, ocz ram. i overclocked the core and memory, using coolbits.
how would i go by making my cmos refresh.I also have a 550w powersupply

wattage isnt every thing

i think everyone(including me) assumed you oc'd your cpu, seeing this is in the amd forum

coolbits oc's your video card, so if you oc'd it too far you could have fried your gpu...

btw,what are the frequencies you
oc'd it to?

ya i posted here becuase i know its problem with my cpu becuase if it was a video card isuue i would have lines threw my screen. but i think i overcloked it too 1.14 for memory and core is at 472 mzh i think so not sure tho.

You may have to break out the manual.
There is usually a jumper for clear CMOS.
or you can disconnect power and pop the battery out of the mobo for 60 seconds.

Also PSU's aren't created equal. Last night I saw a 550W PSU on new egg for $18 that was FAR less powerful than my Antec TP-II430. We may need to know brand and 12V rail voltages etc etc.

First rule when trouble shooting .... never rule out ANYTHING unless its not connected to your PC. It may very well be your video card, even though you dont have lines on your screen.. broken PC's do strange things, and its a never ending troublshooting process being a tech dealing with them, you find out what it is, fix it, and move on to the next "strange behavior"..

But you still havn't stated whether or not you have overclocked you CPU/Memory..??

Set everything you have overclocked back to DEFAULT. And see if the problems continue.

Clear CMOS = Set BIOS back to default. Popping the MoBo battery has the same effect as pulling the CMOS jumper (they both disconnect the circuit)

well i went to do refresh the cmos i did that, it when i got to windows said i am missing dll files and still doing a hard restart. i have a 3 yaer warrenty so what should i get rid of first to start from scrach.

If you set the program up to OC in Windows, you need to boot in safemode and take it out of the startup menu. I did this with my Neo4 SLI and would have to do this to fix OC's every once in a while using a ClockGen autorun thing.

   :D lol

What do you mean by "and still doing a hard restart"??

If your missing dll files, it means something was uninstalled incorrectly or (uncompletely), or windows wasn't installed correctly or completely.

** Did you install windows while your system was overclocked?? because if you did, it is very likely that your memory was getting errors while trying to load some system .dll files.

Recommendation: Set everything back to DEFAULT and reinstall windows to see if problems persist. If they do then move to testing the ram with "Memtest".

Maybe SATA ports not locked or something like that? Corrupted your files?

that is the video card my friend. hold down ctrl when you boot up ;)

I'm wondering if his overclocked Vid Card is possibly overstraining his PSU and causing the hard re-starts. He never specified what sort of PSU. It could be a pow max 550W with an 18A 12v rail.

it's possible. either way, ctrl should be the magic key if the video card is oc'ed too far for whatever reasons

thats the error i get after hard restart

The problem isn't magnification on the monitor.
The problem is the image you're posting is 320x240.
It's too small to see anything.
Need to post a screen shot that you haven't resized or hasn't been resized.

CLEAR THE BIOS!

it's been suggested about a million times now. just pull out the manual and follow the instructions :D

depends on how you overclocked, and what you overclocked. can you do me a favor and list exactly what you did and what happened in a chronological order? i'm having trouble making heads and tales of what's up :p

ok well i was approched by a freind that told me to use coolbits to overclock my video card. I use the program but i didnt do it manuely i used the program to do the overclocking and then i saved. Like a week before this it did like mae 2-3 hard restarts. which to me is no screen just goes blank and restarts. After thati reset the overclocking to the nearest i remembered to it. then it still did hard restarts. so i go to reformat and there are critical downloading errors so i am like fuck take it to a computer place they fix it. so about 2 to 3 days after it comes back and he told me that the numbers on top relate to video card, memory or cpu so i am like fuck thats real helpfull. So here i am haha thanks

ya the computer guy did a fresh reformat
i'd take it back and tell them that the install of windows they put in is bad, or corrupt soehomw

not untill today when i reset the cmos and tried to overclock alittle higher to see if it could knock it out
Your problems started when you OC'd so to potentially fix the problem you Oc'd it further?

Have you tried using the coolbits to return it to stock frequencies?
