Help OC'ing and Setup Case for Cooling

Hey everyone, last October I assembled my first system and everything has been running great since. I have messed around with some easy OC'ing and have had pretty good results. However, the bug has bit me again and I feel like tinkering with my current setup and want to improve what I have with my current components. My current specs are

IP35 PRO ABIT ,MSI 8800GTS T2D640E-HD OC, X3210 2.13 G0 ,CPU COOLER GEMINII, MUSHKIN DDR2-800 2GB 996576, 2X Yate Loon 120mm High Speed, Cooler Master RC-690 Case, Samsung 20x DVD Burner, 2 Hitachi 500gb HDD in Raid0

#1 OC'ing my X3219/IP35pro

Currently I am running the CPU at 3.0ghz and the memory at 930mhz (can't remember will double check when I get home). Where I need help here is all the little setting inside the Ip-35 pro for overclocking. I have had the processor up to 3.2 and ram at 1000mhz but the processor and ram would get flaky (independently tested and both were causing issues). If someone could point me in the direction of what voltages I could set to hold that 3.2 (or above) I would appreciate it

#2 Setting up CM690/GeminII for maximum effectiveness

Now onto my case/cooling. The CM 690 has so many darn spots to put a fan and before I go out and pickup more fans I want to make sure it actually needs more fans and not just better placement. Currently I have two 120mm fans blowing out of the top of the case, two 120mm Yate Loons highspeed on my GeminII cooler and the stock 120mm fan that came on the front of the case still there. My thoughts are this could be not helping my CPU cooling (right now I have no problems but I am not pushing much voltage through the CPU) as the fans on the top of the case are 1 inch away from the CPU cooler fans making allmost a T or an upsidedown L. Im thinking air is being taken away from the CPU cooler but no matter where I put an exhaust fan this will take place (back of the case has the same T or L issue just on a different axis). The only thing I can think of is put my top two fans on the side of the case with them both blowing in, put another case fan on the floor of the case blowing up and this should cause enough pressure to force the air out of the case through the top and out the back.

I know this post is long but any help on either subject would be appreciated. It just seams my combo of IP35-Pro/X3210 is rare, and the same with CM RC690/GeminII and I cant find any info on any good setups.

My first suggestion would be to get rid of the GeminII HSF. I actually had that HSF. I switched to a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and it dropped my LOAD temps.

The GeminII doesn't dissapate heat fast enough under load, even with 2x 120mm hi-cfm fans.

Second thing I did was have the 2 case stock fans on top of the 690 blowing as INTAKE, and 1 high cfm fan (Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000) at the back of the case as an exhaust.

This had 3 fans blowing directly on the HSF, and one strong fan exhausting the hot air.

set cpu multiplier to 8x and fsb to 400 for 3.2GHz and memory right on spec. It will probably be faster than your current settings. Vcore should be about 1.35V and give the MCH some additional voltage (additional .1V for a total MCH voltage of about 1.35V.

See if the board can do that and go from there.

You run into the issue everyone has with 9x mulitplier and 800MHz ram with FSB in the 350-399 range. You have to OC your ram severly and loosen the timings due to the next memory multiplier or underclock it using a 1:1. Try the settings above and then loosen the ram timings and start giving it +5MHz FSB at a shot and see where you end up. Boot into a memtest86+ CD so you dont trash your windows install. When memtest shows errors or fails to load properly, back off 5MHz and try windows. Might have to back off 5 more. A fan on the northbridge/MCH is recommended. You should get to 3.3+ GHz before the cpu starts to act up.
 
tuksonrider , I guess that makes sense pushing ambient air right in the CPU area and the one on the back pulling the hot air out that was just blown threw the heat sink. It has me thinking if I take the two fans from ontop of the case and put them both on the side I could mimmic this while still using my GeminII for now. Then if I move the GeminII HSF's away from the rear vent I could put a fan back there. I will have to do some benchmarking once the ambient temperatures stop swinging around so much in my apartment (no A/C in PA gives 10-15F swings ) Thanks for the tips.

Bill, the x3210 uses a 8x multiplyer to begin with. I beleive I did try running 400mhz FSB before with 8x giving me 3.2ghz . I also remember there being a 1.5 ratio to run my ram at 1000mhz. But I didnt try Vcore at 1.35 as I was gun shy with voltages. Are there any other voltages I should mess with for the processor that could help it hold the 3.2? I have read up more about my ram and there were some recommended timings posted on mushkins forums . Hopefully between all this information I should be able to hold stable at 3.2 .
