Help: My computer restarts before loading.

Hi, I have an issue with my computer and it is very annoying. It repeatedly keeps on restarting before loading Windows XP. Like, I can see the bar in which the green (blue?) think runs inside the bar, meaning that the computer is loading desktop. However, right after this finishes, the computer restarts and continues to repeat this process. Also, when I installed the operating system, I couldn't even install the operating system, for it would say that the harddrive was corrupt and wouldn't be able to finish the installation. I tried with Windows XP Pro, and the same thing happens. Could it be because of my harddrive, ram, power supply, or could it possibly be related to a software problem. The reason I say software problem is because when I tried to install Windows XP Home on my other desktop, the OS wouldn't install for an error message would appear, telling me to check the motherboard and such. PLEASE HELP!

So is the OS installed and you are havin problems loading into it OR is OS not even finished installing?

I would look try a different disk or cd drive; since it seems to happen on more than one machine. I know some CD drives have problems reading the XP install disk (especially if it is NOT a legitimate XP install CD).
 
The OS is installed, after lots of problems and errors. I tried my cd-rw drive and my dvd drive, both to no success. Both CD's are the origional and are in my possesion, meaning that the cd key is available only in my grasps.
 
posting your system specs would help in troubleshooting the problems, as well as how all of the hardware is hooked up.

I've had this happen before with on-board ATA100 and SATA IDE, The fix was to set up the Hard Disk as Master on the Primary ATA IDE, and hooked up the DVDRW as Master on the Secondary ATA IDE channel. Once the build was done I switched around cables, or in the case of the SATA I Ghosted the partition from Primary ATA to the SATA Drive and then did a repair.

Well if you received a bunch of errors during install that would explain why you can't boot. You might want to reinstall windows, and before you do delete the old partition and recreate and format it. If you still get errors it's probably either a CD drive or HDD problem.
