1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc - All of the above + development work
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included? - No Budget really. I just don't want to go crazy and buy top of the line everything. I usually like to go for best bang for my buck. If i have to give a hard cap to my budget I'd say about 1500. would go over if necessary
3) Where do you live? USA, Pennsylvania
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Mobo
Processor
Ram
Soundcard
Powersupply
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model. resuing case. already bought a 1.5tb HD. and case/optical drive, video card
6) Will you be overclocking? I'd like to, but dont want to buy aftermarket cooling off the bat
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have? 32 inch monitor and 23 inch monitor. dual setup
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC? end of may
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc. none thaqt i know of?
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit? win 7 64 bit

i definitely want the best i7 + 16 gb gskill ram. the rest i dont iknow what is current

What kind of development work are we talking about here?
What case?
What video card?

Oh and more than likely, that 1.5TB drive you bought is slower than many other drives out there. So if you want fast performance, you're looking at getting a new drive like the Samsung F3 1TB?

End of May? On second thought, you're better off coming back mid-May and asking for advice then. Our hardware recommendations changes weekly so whatever parts we recommend today probably won't be exactly the same parts we recommend in mid-to-late May.

I do mainly java work. The gaming I do will be more cpu intensive then anything else.

I have an antec 300
Its a new Sata drive HITACHI Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723020BLA642 (0f12115) 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Video card is a ATI 5850? 5750? can check later. definitely a 57xx or 58xx series card. My big question mark is around power supply and mobo. I have a gygabyte board now with a C2D and I loved it but it's time to ugrade :)

The 7K3000 is slightly faster than the Samsung F3. Too bad it isn't available any smaller than 2TB.

We can't make any PSU recomendations until we know what video card you have. In addition, we can't make any motherboard recommendations so early since by the time you buy, Intel's new Z68 chipsets will be out and they may surpass current Intel P67 chipsets as the chipset of choice. So again, your best bet for up to date advice would be to come back around mid-May and ask for advice then.

And that's what I needed to know :). Thx!

It is definitey a 5770. just checked newegg history. and i guess i'll wait for the z68, though there is a chance ill get too excited and wanna buy it like..... tomorrow :). I have the cash and get a raise on tuesday. If its a lot... i could be overnighting some goodies :)

Just make some crazy big .txt file to fill it up so you feel like you're utilizing it ;)

Do you live by a Microcenter? And what's the most demanding game you're going to be playing?

If you were to buy today, consider these parts or similar:

$315 - Intel Core i7-2600k and MSI P67A-G43
$160 (for 2 sets) - G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
$89 (before $30 MIR) - XFX P1-650X-CAH9 650W ATX12V v2.2 / ESP12V v2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular

No idea on a soundcard for you as I don't know your audio setup. If you just want sound, the G43 has an integrated 7.1 audio chipset with optical and coaxial digital outputs, as well as 8 analog channels. If you want something "better" or that matches your headphones impedance or those new fangled "tubes," I'm not the expert there.

I play sc2 and wow. Some people mentioned here that there would be a new mobo chipset out. Any recommendations on what to get these days?
