I have a DELL XPS 2010.

It Comes with a Core 2 Duo 2.16 , 2gig's of ram and a 256mg ATI Mobility Radeon™ X1800 Series

I'd like to upgrade to something newer, being a Laptop and a Dell,

I'm not sure what would be compatible or even possible!!!!.

I'm some what computer savvy.
I know that voltage and power consumption are important issues to look for,but i'm sure i should look for other things.

So if anyone know more about XPS 2010 and the x1800, or laptops in general.

I'd like either a list of what i should watch out for or if i could replace it with anything (i listed a few Examples below) with out burning out the Motherboard or having it burn.

i'm also having a hard time finding exact info on any ATi Card.

Sorry to say but there's not that many cost-effective upgrades for your laptop.

Your video card cannot be upgraded. It doesn't use the MXM format and actually uses a proprietary format specific to that laptop as far as I can tell.

As for your CPU, according to Dell, the max FSB your motherboard can handle is 667Mhz. Unfortunately your Core 2 Duo T5850 2.16Ghz CPU is the fastest Socket P 667Mhz FSB CPU there is.

Really no point in getting 4GB of RAM unless you do a ton of photoshop work or virtualized OSes on your laptop.

You could probably upgrade to a faster 7200RPM drive but the faster bootup times and slightly lower battery life aren't worth the extra costs IMO.

So basically, not much you can do. You're pretty much stuck.

Also, if that system uses the 945 chipset rather than the 965, you're limited to 3gb anyway....the 945G never ran a full 4gb. (at least, every 945 chipset I used only showed 3gb even when a 64bit OS was in use)
