Hi
I'm looking to upgrade my 5 years old logitech keyboard to a better one. I really like those new cool looking Illuminated keyboards and after searching for couple hrs. I came up with 3 choices so far:
1. alienware tactx
2. Razer blackwidow ultimate
3. Logitech K800

I'm not a heavy gamer...mostly just for typing, web surfing, etc... so which one will be best for me ?
Thanks

Blackwidow ultimate will be best, especially is it's mostly for typing. The cherry MX blue switches feel great, there is a nice tactile feedback but they are loud for some people or those around them.

I'm using a DAS keyboard with brown switches. It is excellent for gaming, etc.

For typing and working, I can't recommend anything but the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard. The shape of the keyboard is so much better for extended typing, that even while typing posts like this one my wrists start to get tired on my DAS keyboard. But the shape does get in the way of gaming sometimes.

I went from a MS Natural 4000 to a Corsair K90 without any extra strain, but I haven't put in any marathon coding sessions on the K90 yet.

Monoprice is selling a decent backlit mechanical board right now, Xarmor/MAXX rebrand, not sure if it's better than the BWU but I think it's available with a different switch type if you're not crazy about clicky blues. Ducky Shine's worth looking at if you don't mind the price tag ($150-ish at Tiger Imports).

Depends on what you're looking for really, besides backlight, you listed several very different keyboard types OP (mechanical & non, etc.).

For backlit, there arent going to be many choices. I have a Razer Black Widow Ultimate and its been a pretty good one. Ive had an issue or two with firmware or software or whatever with weird things happening but none have been back breakers and the keyboard looks cool as shit and is a lot of fun to type on. There is a lot of Razer hate on the boards so Im sure theyll be chiming in here before too long but after about a year on mine, Im happy with it and would recommend one to somebody. If it doesnt have to be mechanical, I really like this Logitech G510 Ive been using for about a year now alongside the Razer (I switch them out all the time when I get bored). Its got a nice smooth keystroke and tons of features and things to play with as well as customizable backlighting. Also worth checking out are the Corsair keyboards. Theyre a combination of mechanical keys with some membrane keys in the number and F keys. Theyre also backlit.

That being said, there are better keyboards out there if youre willing to give up backlighting. The Das models are awesome but the ones I think are about the best and with a reasonable price tag are the Leopolds from Elite Keyboards. Theyre super plain looking but theyre very well built and you can pick the type of keys you want.

Deck are amongst the best mechanicals and they're available with backlight too, not a lot of switch variety tho. I have a feeling that isn't necessarily what the OP is looking for tho.

thanks for you input, anyway i just bought bw ultimate from newegg. They have it on sale for $98 and really enjoyed it so far although it's really loud. Hopefully it will last long like my old logitech

I just picked up a Corsair K90 and am very happy with it.
