Ok, i am trying to decide on what to have my fiance get me for christmas
Choices.
A)Another Ultra, new PSU and Sli my rig (see sig)
B) Nice gaming laptop
C)new gaming consle i.e(ps3, xbox360, or Wii)
D)Stage 2 Borla Exhaust, and New Break System (Bear of Brimbo)

Let the debate begain!:D

Option A is out. The Abit IP35 pro, in fact every single P35 mobo, does not support SLI. So no SLI for you.

Option B: Never Liked the idea of "gaming laptops". However, if you travel a lot and have that itch to game, then go for it.

Option C: So far the best option so far. However are there any console games that you actually want to play?

Option D: I have no idea what this is. Some car thing?

Other options:
- Dell 30" LCD monitor
- HTPC
- HDTV

A- Umm, i guess i wont be going Sli,
B- I do a lot of traveling and consulting work, i have a middle of the road laptop. Looking to get a new one, so i can do that and game at home.
C- I am really looking at a 360, but not sure if i can mod it or not. My current xbox has a 200GB HD with over 50 games on it.
D- Options for my current project car. 1993 Ford SHO, 3.2L DOHC. Yahama Performace racing engine, bored out, ported/Polished Heads,Intake,Throttle. The exhaust cost over 1000 dollars but way worth it. Basically do i want to put more in my car during the winter or wait till summer. I am thinking D is out, waiting for spring
So its either a nice laptop or a gaming console.
I am up in the air between the Wii or the 360. I am a Huge halo fan and have yet to play Halo 3.

I find the Wii to be more fun when you have people over than when playing it alone -- but I guess that depends on the games you have. Do you have an HDTV? If so, go for the XBox360 and the HD DVD Player. :p

I'd go for the 360 as well.... although if you really do travel a lot, a nice laptop would probably be a bit more practical.....

But practicality is highly over rated;)

Yes i do have have HDTV and already have Harmon Karmon Receiver/HD Dvd Player/Boston Accoustic Surround Sound/ Full HDMI/ect....
It's a hard choice, because if i get the 360 i will go with the elite and some games. Or a new laptop. My laptop could last a few more years but its already 4 years old.

That's the big debate......

I concur.

Thats what i am thinking, going to start configure them this weekend and looking around.
Want to be able to all the new FPS and other games, IE
BioShock, Crysis, Battle 2, Hellgate London, ect...
I know it wont play them max but i want to be able to play them at decent settings

Any serious gaming laptop would be at least 17" , which if you´ve ever carried one, you know anything above 15,4" is not really portable, but moveable... So if you travel a lot, I would recommend a true mobile computer and a gaming laptop as a Desktop replacemente in my opinion is a waste of cash... For the price of one, you can get a desktop twice as fast and a 24" monitor...

My recomendation: For the price of the laptop you wanted, you can get all three consoles and about 1000 to 1500 dolars worth of games... Say you spend 500 on a nice Sound System if you dont have one already and spend 1000 on games...

I already have a really nice sound system, over 3500 worth :p Problem is on my down time when i am traveling i like to game, why i wanted a laptop that could play decent games. Everyone i talk to say the Wii is a blast to play, i have yet to play one. I was thinking of maybe getting a 360 and Wii, but still not 100% sure. I only have a few weeks left to decide... I do not travel a tun, but i do travel a farely decent amount. I am looking a few defferent Dell's and Hp's. Anyone have any thoughts on gateway or toshiba?

Gaming laptop? check out Sager.

Well not just gaming, but i want to do everything i do now, normal pc stuff, plus some gaming. I know it wont play all the new games at top settings, but also i dont want the picture to look like crap

I'm pretty sure any gaming laptop can do all the other stuff you normally do. ;) To clarify, I consider the only difference between a gaming/non-gaming laptop is the GPU. You can game on a 14", 15", or 17", so screen size isn't a factor IMO (since most laptops are now widescreen).

True, that and the video card, i noticed on most i cant really change the video card much

Why not get a PSP or DS Lite to game on the road and stick with a lighter 14.1" notebook.......
