Hello,

I’m looking into purchasing a new display, really only interested in a 30inch one. I’ve been on a dell 24inch for the last 5 years and it has been flawless. I haven’t bought anything for my system in a long time. I think it’s time to move to an HD 30inch display for new games coming out SC2, WoW: Cata, D3 etc.. and all the movies I’ve been watching on it.. I want to upgrade my system as well but would rather wait on that since so much new hardware will be out by the time I’m ready to start gaming again. That trend doesn’t seem to follow displays as much so I thought that would be the best item to purchase now.

I’m happy with Dell since mine has been flawless, no dead pixels at all and has performed great. Is there better quality hooking these up with an HDMI cable over a DVI? I’ve been lookin at the apple 30inch HD cinema display and this seems to be higher priced them the rest but extremely popular. I don’t know if this is cause of apple fan boy’s or if it’s a really good product? What would you recommend for a 30inch display from what’s out there right now? My budget isn’t unlimited I’m always lookin for a bargain and I will sacrifice performance for price if its justifiable.

Thanks,

I can't recommend a display but what I can say is HDMI and DVI are identical in terms of PQ (same signal, different cable design) and DON'T buy the Apple display.

Thanks wasnt sure about the difference between the two in terms of quality. As for the Apple I just wanted some opinions on its performance. Im not a fan of the looks or price lol, so far from what ive read I'm leaning towards the Dell 3007 or 3008.

I've seen a few Dell 3007's and they are amazing. Kinda old now but that may mean you can get a good deal. The 3008 has some processing on it that increases the response time dramatically IIRC so I'd steer clear of that one.

It does but don't let that dissuade you from picking one up if you need the extra inputs, unless you are picky that is. Input lag wise I could not see a perceptible difference between the two (have owned the 3007WFP-HC and now own a 3008WFP). And overall, I prefer the colors on the 3008, but again it's a small difference.
