I am trying to figure out which power supply would be best for my setup. My theoretical system would be

Q9550 overclocked
p5Q e motherboard
8 gigs of ram
2 hard drives
2 dvd drives
280 nvidia card

I would like at least a 650w to make sure I have enough power. My main concern after reliability would be noise level. I would like something as near silent as possible. I have read modular power supplies are better but do not know what that means:confused:

Modular PSUs are better for cable management. That's pretty much the only advantage modular PSUs have over non-modular PSUs.

Anyway, you don't need this much power but for the price, it is one of the best bang for the buck PSU out now:
BFGTech BFGR800WESPSU ES-800 800W PSU - $110

It's an excellent quality PSU backed by a lifetime warranty and is more then enough power for whatever future upgrade you plan on. It is also pretty quiet as well. Here's a review of it:

At that price, I'd recommend the ES-800 over any Antec, Corsair, Seasonic or PC Power & Cooling PSU.

Dude, get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171017

Great reviews all-around, plenty of power and the BEST looking heatsinks off ANY power supply!
Of course, you will never see them, but you know they are there!

Coolermaster sells some on Ebay that have been returned and "upgraded", full warranty
and all! Mine came brand spanking new, HUGE box and really nice! What happened is that
some owners had motherboard compatibility issues, so CoolerMaster had to take returns and "fixed" their current stock of these. Anyway, best Power Supply I have ever owned, and full warranty! Just thought I would pass along this deal.

That's not a deal. The BFG ES-800 is a deal. It has 65A on the +12V rail, lifetime warranty, well rated here on the site and costs $110. The CM PSU you linked to only has 60A on the +12V rail, a five year warranty and costs $160. Many 750W PSUs like the Corsair 750TX and PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 have 60A on the +12V rail and are significantly cheaper than that CM PSU with an equal warranty and have been proven time and time again to be excellent PSUs.

So in other words, the BFG ES-800 is a far far better deal than that CM PSU.

If your paying full price, your right, the BFG is a better deal, but I only paid $50.00 w/FREE
SHIPPING for the Cooler Master. Not sure if 65A or 60A makes a huge deal. A five year warranty
is plenty for most, with all the changes on Motherboards and Power Supplies, most will upgrade
way before that, but if you keep your equipment for a longer time then the lifetime is better.
I had a lifetime warranty on my 680i, only had it for 3 months before upgrading. The BFG is good
though, I was just trying to pass along a deal that I had got. You can't go wrong with ANY of
the above units though!

I think the Corsair HX620 is more then enough for what you have now.

Plus I am looking to sell mine to upgrade to accomdate for my WCing system and future purchase of another 4870x2.

Not just a sales pitch. Solid PSU as I am sure many will agree.

But would like to see it :D
