This is my system (already ordered):

* Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6600
* Tuniq Tower 120
* Xtreem (team group) 2 Gb Kit DDR2 (2x 1Gb) 4-4-4-10 800Mhz
* Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
* OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI ATX12V 600W Power Supply
* eVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic Sound Card

I don't plan to go SLI.

What motherboard should I get? 965 based (Asus P5B) ? 975x based ? Bad Axe 2 ?

I would go 680i if it actually worked.

there are alot of very good 965p motherboards out there like tha asus p5b-e. that should do the job very well .

the new asus p5n-e-sli with the 650i chipset is looking pretty good . over at XS they have been overclocking it and so far it's getting up there with the best of the 965p's. it has 8x sli--some don't think this will be enough for the 8800's . i think it will likely be enough . my 4x pci-e asrock seems to pull a x1900xt fine at only 4x. if there is a hit with the 8x & 8800 in sli it will be a small one . the 650i has a full 16x for one vga--and at this price it's good for us--single card folks as well.

at any rate you can get either of these for around $150 or even less at times . for a desktop-computer i can't see any reason to spend more -- unless you just love to make visa MC and your favorite e-tailers happy--

:eek: :cool:

Money isn't an issue; I'd like to futureproof my system with a good mobo.

Any other thoughts?

P5B Deluxe? I'd say it's as future proof a board as you'll find unless you want SLI.

ASUS's AM2 boards are really future-proof (see: Crosshair) which is why I went AMD, but you could try the Bad Axe or the Striker Extreme.

How do you figure that one? AMD is already talking about multiple socket changes?
