Help me build a lan box.

Hello [H], long time lurker, first time poster.
Anyway, I'm looking to build a lan box for college/lans. My only requirement is light and/or portable. Preferably quiet. This will usually be sitting on my desk, next to a 22in widescreen monitor, so it does need to be small. I will be building this from scratch so all major components will be considered, peripherals are already set in stone, I know what I like to use in that department.

As far as budget, I AM a college student so cheaper is better. I'm thinking ~$600-700.

The case needs to fit a 4850 or 4870. I was thinking a Lian-Li V351B but part of me thinks this may be too big. I've even considered HTPC cases (putting the monitor on top of them) but PSU is usually an issue here.

Processor will definitely be AMD, deciding between the PII x2, x3 or x4 because of heat. Cooler for this is still up for grabs, Gemini II maybe? I will overclock.

PSU needs to be modular and of good quality.(for those that dont know, this includes Seasonic, Corsair, PCP&C)

V351B will easy fit into a gym bag and modular would be a mis-step as it would double the cost of the powersupply.
 
Nice suggestions, however we are missing a CPU cooler here, as I do want to overclock.
Also, while this PSU works for this video card, if I decide to upgrade in the future, I am worried I'd end up replacing that.

I was also looking at the DFI LP JR 790GX-M3H5 AM3 AMD 790GX motherboard.
 
Something like a Corsair HX520w should be sufficient power wise for now and future expansion. If you think you need more step up to the HX620w model. Both models are pretty quiet.
 
Corsair 400 watt will be fine once its 95 watt CPUs + 150-180 watt Video Cards. Only way you will need higher wattage PSU is if you are planing a crossfire setup. 2 120mm, 2 Hard drives and 2 Optical Drives aren't going to use that power that you need better psu either.

Gemini II HSF is what I would suggest for this build.

Any extra funds should be spend on the CPU or video card as that would give your real world performance increase.

Could anyone recommend some good high-flowing, quiet 120mm fans for the case? The only ones I know of are the Yate Loons from PTS.

$8.99 on new egg. The best one for the noise / volume ratio!
Also, I have heard of a new "Lan Box" case coming out in December that you won't want to miss. It's way better than the Lian Li V351, more compact, and has the coolest features.
I will post the info when I have some more time.

Nexus Real Silent D12SL-12 120mm fans are good, though I recall someone claiming they were in fact Yate Loons? But SPCR rates them at the top of 120mm fans at any rate, so should be good, and been nice in my own use for the time I've had them.

Scythe S Flex fans are good quality and pretty quiet. They come in various models of varying speed, volume, and sound. I use the 'F' model and they're great.
