Hello, I need some help finding the proper video card for a computer i want to connect to my parent's standard definition TV. The only open ports on the tv are analog YPbPr component. The problem is that I need to buy a video card that is capable of transmitting analog YPbPr video at standard definition (I believe 480i, correct?).

I've read that some ATI cards have a DVI->YPbPr adapter, but how is this possible since DVI is digital and component is analog? I presume that the card would be transmitting analog signal via the DVI port, which allows for the adapter to work??

I also read about many cards with 7-pin S-video look-alike port that is capable of YPbPr transmission?

i saw this, it has a s-video to component adapter as an accessory. WOuld this work?

I need some guidance from you guys, and I would appreciate it very much!
Thank you for your time!

Seriously dude? Are you that impatient? BTW, you need to lock one of your threads. No crossposting between the forums.

And be patient. You barely waited an hour before making this new thread.

sorry, I thought my original post was in the video cards (but was actually made in the HTPC section), so when I didn't see it , I thought I didn't post correctly or was for some reason deleted. I will make the correction

Are you sure it's a YPbPr component connection and not just an RCA (yellow, red, white) connection? I don't think I've ever in my life seen a standard def tv with those inputs.

SD cable boxes have component outputs and quality standard def TV's had component inputs. I had a Toshiba - best picture quality ever, way better than what you get today with 480p on a digital HD display.

Yes, the manual states I have one set of YPbPr component inputs. Upon further reading, it seems like I just need to make sure the video card has a 7 pin mini-dim port with an included 7pin DIM->Component output adapter. Apparently such port can output three analog signals: s-video, composite and component. Can anyone confirm this before I make a purchase?

I was looking at these two:
