help diagnose strange problem please.

recently my computer has been exhibiting some odd behavior. lately when i plug my phone into my computers front usb port the volume will be reduced to a dramatically lower level. its not actually lowering the volume slider in windows or anything like that, its like the power output is just not as high to my nufurce udac2 anymore. this happens with both headphones and my crappy logitech 2.1 speakers. usually i can fix it by unplugging my phone and the udac and then plugging the udac back in. yesterday the volume dropped without any provocation so i think whatever is happening is going to get worse. i feel like it could easily be a usb issue, an issue with the udac, or even a software issue (although the udac is plug n play.)

specs:
core 2 quad q8200
msi g31 m3 v2 mobo
4gb ddr2
gtx 460 1gb
sigma corsa case
seasonic s12 II 620w psu
uDAC 2 hp

Could be a grounding issue with your front usb port? ... only idea I got right now, sorry.

Only thing I can think of it is a defective mobo.
