1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Playing games, specifically GTA:IV/EFLC, along with basic web browsing and running vmware if I can't bear to wipe and install another OS on my other computers
I'm currently using my Asus g50vt-x5 laptop as my computer, so it'll be nice to have something that plays games a bit better than that.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1,000 plus shipping to Hawaii
(possibly adding another $500 if I wait a month)
3) Where do you live?
Hawaii
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
mobo, CPU, RAM, video card, OS (Windows 7 Professional)
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
- BFG BFGR1000WEX PSU
- WD 640gb SATA HDD
- possibly my Thermaltake Armor VA8000B case, if I can find its motherboard standoffs (or enough of them)
- LG SATA DVD burner
- PCI wireless card
6) Will you be overclocking?
nope
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Currently have a 22" @ 1680x1050, but I might add a 2nd monitor or upgrade it to a 24" (or 2x 24"). ATM, I'll just run with the 22" - I gotta change my desk anyway
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within the next 2-4 weeks - depends when I can finish the comparison shopping and shipping, or within a month if I have to expand my budget
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Crossfire/SLI support will be good, but not necessary. I'll reconsider the wireless PCI card if the motherboard has built in wifi, if not, then just an extra PCI for the wireless PCI card.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
No free OS license for this computer. I'll be buying a Windows 7 Business 64bit copy with this build.
I've been out of the computer building loop for 4 years (the last computer I built was a s939-based SFF, and I changed some parts till it became a full size desktop [different case than what was mentioned])
