Yo really 46 views and no recommendations, this forum must be slippin...lol I guess I just go for one rated high on Newegg customer reviews that's in my price range? Must be slow night here or sum thing in the water. 
Oh yeah it's basically for Team Fortress 2, no other games use it that I play currently I could spend 50 bucks I think on a headset what is best?

Anyway, if you're into clean audio and online gaming your best bet is to forego most of the crappy peripheral brand headsets and get yourself some decent headphones, by far. For $50 the Samson SR850 would be right up your alley, very detailed with a big sound stage for positional cues in games. Most crap headsets for twice as much won't sound half as nice.
Add a $5 Zalmam clip on mic and you're done; or if you really need a boom mic or feel like splurging then spend an extra $30 on an Antlion ModMic. It's a bit overpriced but the mounting system's pretty clever (yay magnets) and the mic itself picks up far less background noise than the omni directional Zalman.
There's a Superlux version of the Samsons that differs a little in design but sounds the same basically, one or the other might be cheaper at any given time. I forget the model though, I'm sure it's in a recent thread, or two or three. Then again the boards are slipping so maybe not.

Those look like what I need, thx I'll go with the Samson headphones and that condenser mic package. I always wanted a condenser mic, and studio level quality headphones! Sounds SICK. Might get the Zalman clip like u mentioned too
thx so much!EDIT...My fault...I did not read about the 50$ part...the 770's are more like 150...but I do believe that the difference is more than miniscule...well worth it for the "good clean audio" part. but probably not worth it for just team fortress...

Actually all I know is I am really happy with them, best headphones I ever owned...then again in the past my headphones were like the walkman 1980's foam things with metal headband...come to think of it I have absolutely no credentials to give advice about headphones.
But really, I like the 770's. The noiz that comes out of them feels good to my brain. Perhaps somebody else understands the sciency stuff behind that.

The DT 770 are pretty good for what they are, but they're not necessarily his best option if he wants it for online gaming, unless he needs the isolation of a closed pair of cans (even then, there's probably better closed headphones w/a wider sound stage)...There's a ton of open headphones (Beyer's own DT 880/990) that will produce a better soundstage and more detail than those. Either way, this is way over his budget.
Oh and the MMX 300 are usually pretty overpriced just for the addition of a mic (compared to the DT 770, or any Beyer headphone), plus I've seen reviews complaining that the mic can fail over time. The Sennheiser PC360 headset is usually priced closer to the HD558 / 598 and might be the better guy for online gaming, if you're really after a headset in that price range ($150-250?). It's probably one of the few headsets out there that are worth the money...
