Hey all.

Looking for a ~100$ headset to replace my old one.

Been looking at the Corsair 1300, the SS Siberia V2 non USB.

Purpose is to be used with the PC mostly and iPad every now and then.

I'm really not an audiophile so I don't really need high end gear, nor am I educated in all the terminology for this.

I've seen a few Sennheisers and Audio Technica around and I wouldn't mind these (even if the headsets don't come with a mic), except that I just can't really tell which is "bang for the buck" (an extremely overused term) and what is best for me.

Criteria:
1. Comfort (Current headphones are a sore during gaming sessions)
2. Build quality (I want this headset to last!)
3. Sound quality (Not such an audiophile but I hear the 889 is no slouch and I wouldn't mind clearer sounds either!)
4. Price; the lower the better. Not probably willing to spend upwards of 100$.
5. Mic or no mic. w/ Mic helps but w/o is no gamebreaker. The ones with retractable/hidden mics are a plus, although I'll probably have a separate and lower profile in-ear set for mobile use.

(Not living in the US, so I'm afraid I can't order online / jump on any deals etc).

On the top of my shortlist is the Siberia V2 nonUSB but I as with most gamer gear, this may not be the best for my criteria or for the use of my money.

I own both the Shure SRH440 and the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 and they are both great (although the ATH-M50 is the winner without question).

The Shure should easily be under $100 and they are great for all kinds of applications.
 
Hmm the ATH-M50 is a little over budget. Don't think I can find the Shure here...

Well where country are you in? You won't get much help if we can't find some place near where you hail from that could have it.
 
Sorry. Didn't mean it to come out that way.

I live in the Philippines. What few sellers of Shure products I've found are either black market or 2nd hand sllers but as of my searching over the internet, there is no authorized dealer that will provide warranty.
 
If you aren't willing to invest in a sound card i'd suggest getting a USB model like the Corsair 1500. The Corsair 1300 is an excellent headset but you need something better then onboard to allow it to truly shine.
 
As a Corsair HS1USB owner.

I recommend them highly. I'm brutal as hell on headphones, and I've had both mine break on the stems. But Corsair comes through and repairs / replaces them regardless.

That says more to me than anything, they stood by it, in warranty, and replaced them when they failed me.

To their credit, I've never had a pair of headphones last me more than 12 months. I have a watermelon for a head, ( 8 and 3/8 hat size) and it stretches out headphones abnormally.
