Heads rolling at Infinity Ward

MW2 only sold 170K copies on PC in it's first month of release

they've reduced the price on the PC version several times and their sales haven't spiked up at all.

Seeing that Activision has its hands in both Infinity Ward's and Blizzard's cookie jar I'm thinking they are a growing cancer for pc gaming.

The next EA? It's almost getting to the point where you can say "Giant Publishers = bad" although I know it's not true.

Unfortunately, that cookie jar is full of billions and billions of dollars in profit and is the envy of the industry and the scorn of PC gamers.

MW2 hasn't dropped even once on steam. It's still 60 bucks and wont change anytime soon, trust me.

50 bucks on amazon shipped, so now it's down to what it should've been originally. Of course some may argue against that and say it should've been 30$ and released as an expansion, but obviously that wouldn't have been hyped enough and made as much profit. ;)

Steam is not the only place people buy games

people buy games from other sources provided it's cheap, i've seen it as cheap as $30 shipped online

I've been in gamestop, bestbuy, target and walmart and have never seen it for less than $60.00. Don't know what to tell ya, I guess I missed the uber sales. If you want the game then just buy the fucking thing or don't buy it, but letting 10 bucks stand in your way of hours upon hours of enjoyment is retarded imo. I'm not saying to buy it or not too buy it. What I am saying is if you had in mind to buy it and you let 10 bucks more or less stand in the way , principles or not, then that's your loss.

I'm against the whole let's milk the gamers for every penny they got also but life is what it is. Corporations are what they are and I learned a few things from that supposed MW2 revolt regarding the no dedicated servers. What I learned is people have no will power and cave in as easy as a kid in a candy store when pressed and I will not let a few bucks stand in my way of having some fun from hre on out. MW2 should have been and could have been alot more and alot better but as it stands it's a fun game and anyone who's a fan of fps's would most likely enjoy it. If your holding out because of the no dedi's or because 10 bucks more or less hurts your pride or whatever made up reason than i say again, that's your loss.

you dont lose ANYTHING by not buying a game. You lose nothing at all. However, if you pay ten dollars extra, you lose 10 bucks.

Target had it on sale for $39 at the beginning of January for a week or so. It was on sale across the board. I have seen it for that price at a couple more places since as well.

Wow ya so umm where to start with that sarcasm, hmmmm. Ok.

Anyway ya no shit you don't lose anything if you don't buy it, but that wasn't exactly my point. I somehow have a vague notion you knew that already though but are trying to sound witty or some shit, whatever floats your boat.

If you call yourself a PC gamer and or a FPS gaming fan than , yes, you lose out. You lose out on hours of fun. I thought that was enough. It's enough of a loss for me. However some people may want to use the extra 10 bucks as some sort of way to put it to "the man" then by all means, have at it.

MW2 had 170k in sales on PC for the month of November 2009

i don't think many caved in, it had like 100-110k more people than that bought it signing a petition for dedicated servers

that's quite a few lost sales

it sold far more on consoles than it ever will on PC, CoD 4 sold like 3 million copies on PC, MW2 will never even come close to that, probably not even half of that

IW doesnt care, they sold like double on Xbox (which is the same price) so losing some on pc is ok with them. lol its funny cause they think it is better to NOT have Dedicated servers..

Matchmaking & Smoother Gameplay: When you want to player a multiplayer game on PC, in the past. You’d have to scroll through a Server Browser which listed every available server which was hosted by individual server admins. Each had their own private rules, mods, or ways of playing the game. Most players would also use the server browser to find just the best quality game (based on PING). With IWNET matchmaking, it takes all that into account for you. All you have to do is select the playlist (pre-set gametypes with custom rules) that fits the style of play you are in the mood for. When you do, it will automatically find you a game with the best performance, ping, and preferences based on your location and individual connection as well as matching you with players of your same SKILL. So you’re always guaranteed the best game performance for where you are and what connection you’re playing on as well as an equal game with other players of your same skill level, not rank, but skill level. It doesn’t mean you’ll just be thrown into a random game! It will put you in the game that will give you the smoothest gameplay possible without you having to manually find a server with the best ping.

Playlists and Private Matches: As I described above, Playlists are pre-set game modes and gametypes for public games. If you just want to jump into a public game of Search and Destroy or Hardcore Search and Destroy and you don’t care about fully customizing it, then you can utilize playlists to do that quickly for you. However, say you’re in a clan and you want to play a Clan match with another team, or you want to practice for an upcoming tournament that has specific rules in a private game. Then you can start a Private Match (which is essentially like running your own private server) where you have complete control over the rules, who can join, boot players you don’t want, and essentially control the entire game or tweak it to your liking. Once the rules are set, you can invite the other team in or just start it up with your clan to practice with the custom rules before the match. This now allows you to play custom games out of the box without the need to install mods, find a modded server with the rules you like, or worry about not being in control of the match.

Party System and Friendslist: Modern Warfare 2 on PC also makes it much easier if you want to party up with your friends, or again, with your clan for a match. You can utilize the friendslist to see when your friends are online, and invite them to your Party. A Party allows you to move from game to game as a group. It’s great for clan matches, because you can party of with your clan and move from public game to public game together. Or if you’re doing a scrim, party up and invite the other clan (who is in a party) and they’ll all join at once. Set up a private match together and play. It makes setting up scrims or games with friends easier and hassle free.

Cheat / Hack Free Games: The biggest benefit of using IWnet by far is the fact that you don’t have to worry about joining a server full of aim-bots, wallhacks, or cheaters. Or relying on the server admin of the server to constantly be monitoring, banning, and policing it. Modern Warfare 2 on PC allows us to control the quality of the game much more than ever before as well as utilizing the VAC (Valve-Anti-Cheat) system to keep games clean of hackers and cheaters.

All in all, IWNET adds a load of new features that the PC version of our games have never had before and allows us an infrastructure to continue to update and improve on the game post-launch.

.

You dont seem to understand that just because I chose not to buy this game, that I didnt lose out on anything. I didnt "miss out" or anything else either. There are plenty of other good games. You bought it and like it so you can justify to yourself that 10 dollars aint no thang and dedicated servers are worthless. whatever dude.

I didnt buy it so I dont have to justify anything. I played AVP, saboteur, bc2, starcraft 2, L4D2 and others. I didnt miss out on anything.

Losing out or not is a relative thing. I never said no dedi's is no thang. What i said was thegame is fun even though there are no dedi's, albeit with dedi's it would be a hell of alot better. That's what i was saying.

Oh and I played all the above mentioned games as well as mw2 with the exception of AVP. Didn't care for it after playing that sad excuse of a demo.

Then there must be a festering tumor within Ubisoft because of their recent attitude towards the PC...

It's the difference between having the game and not having it. If you don't have it, you miss out on having it. This isn't arguable, you DO miss out. Whether that's important to you or not is another matter all together.

Perhaps if the two ousted execs keep ownership ( I use that term for lack of a better legally correct term) Modern Warfare will go back to it's former COD4 glory.

All this may turn out good for COD4 fans and those left with a bad taste after MW2.
