I just got a Sapphire ati radeon 5850 and bought a hdmi cable to use with my screen so i could pump the audio through it since my current sound card is a POS. I plugged the cable in and I am faced with a washed out color screen. It seems like the colors are set to a mode between 16 bit and 32. It seems like everything is very "sharp", that it is not antialiased and it is causing the colors to be off. I have a LG Flattron M237wd, and the best way I can sum up the problem is to compare it to plugging your computer through hdmi into a LCD tv. This monitor is basically a LCD tv since it has a coaxial digital tuner as well as a billion other inputs so I am leaning towards that as the problem. Any insight would be great.
 
In CCC goto "Desktops & Displays" and right click the monitor to see the configuration option. In one of the tabs you should see Pixel options. Could be set to Limited RGB by default. Screw around with them and see if it can fix it.
 
HTPC colours washed out unsharp for AMD APU Nvidia Hdmi 1.3 1.4 1.4a output Mini ITX or whatever

For colours to be accurate you have to set
1. Hdmi input of tv label to pc
2. Choose tv colour spacing bt. 709
3. set gamma on tv at maximum ,at least 2.35 for THX certification
4. Use YCbCr 4:4:4 on hdmi out
5. Calibrate all

Also madAVR settings has advanced calibration feature for TV's but dont touch colour profiles use BT 709
 
Select the approperiate output mode for HDMI, if you ae using a TV as a monitor, you have to adjust the corlor space accordingly. Driver should auto detect this by default.
