I want to replace my hard drive.. I want to make an exact copy of the of my old drive.

I tried cloning my hdd with some software called Paragon software but it wont boot.
Is there other software i could use and be FREE.
A "how to" would be great too.

The last time i clone a HDD was with and IDE it was painless real simple.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Is your old drive a Seagate or Western Digital drive? If so, both manufacturers offer a stripped down version of Acronis True Image.

Samsung doesnt seem to have any software. At least i couldnt find it. I'll check hitachi.

Download a trial of acronis true image, boot off the recovery cd of true image and let it clone your disk.

After i tried almost all the cloning software out there i gave up. I did a fresh install of W7.

The reason every program fail was because the old drive has some errors on it and the software would not allow the cloning to complete with errors.

But thanks to Clonezilla which mention an error on disk possibility, I desist and start from scratch.

Software i tried... Paragon, Acronis, Norton Ghost, Partition wizard, Xml something, clonezilla I also bought a hhd enclosure just to try it with it too but i wasnt able to clone the damn disk.

Again thanks everyone for the help.
