HDD prices

Why is there a price difference between these? Is one brand really better by much
than another? Or is it like a Jag or a Merc vs. Buick or Chevy, you pay more, but
drive to work on the same road.

Of those choices I would get the Hitachi, it is the only USB3 drive you posted. I will never give iomega another cent in my life after click of death zip and jaz horrors.

Seems that a lot of hds have had issues recently. I would go with WD just because they are so big. They seem to take care of warranty stuff fairly well too.
