Hey guys! stop trolling here...
Seems like you have nothing else to do !
You are not interested in his thread ? Simply don't post, that 's a more clever behavior! ;)

I totally agree. The trolls here are rampant.

Looks like vanilla is scared the HD5770 may be better than his HD4890s.
:D

I didn't see it in the thread, but do these have both crossfire fingers so you can do 3 or 4 cards in crossfire?

Great eye.

This is a huge handicap for multiple GPU configuarations.

Looks like it only has a single crossfire finger which would limit it to 2 cards for crossfire.

They only away around this would be if the HD5770 has a specially designed crossfire bridge that would have more connections than the standard 2 between 2 cards. :(

here another bench on my DFI BI P45 elite w/q9550:

One can argue it's only benches, but it turns out to be a bullshit in the real word! :)

That argument has been coming up alot lately. :D

Very nice score on the DFI P45. :)

No, not the JR Sonda5!
the BI P45 elite: the last DFI low coast P45!

Edit: you have edited!

Yeah. DFI makes a great P45 MB. Sick 3dMark06 score. What speed on the HD5770?

Hah!

Nobody is trolling. Without a doubt, the 5770 will be a nice card especially at its suggested price point as it should beat the 4890 and the GTX 275 all for significantly less money and lower power requirements. However, this ridiculous fixation on the HD *770 offering is unfounded and a little baffling because there is no real reason for someone to be sooo in LOVE with a particular videocard to the point that it is all they ever talk about, especially when it is not even the top performer. Sonda is attached to the thing like his very own child.

That my sir, is why people give you guys a bit of a hard time. It's funny :)

i am so frightened i could just shit. this happens every year when the new cards come out, because i would hate to have to upgrade.

Honestly SonDa5, you are the biggest troll in this thread, and YOU CREATED IT! You are seriously the most obsessive person that I have ever seen on the internet....

What ever. :D

Can't you see that the time has come for an affordable multi gpu card? The HD5770x2 would be the perfect platform to bring to the world the most powerful and affordable multi GPU video card to date.

Why have an affordable multi-GPU card when you can have a single-GPU card for the same price and with the same performance? A 5770X2 would end up being priced right in line with the 5870, which makes it pointless.

That is questionable.
Before a HD5770x2 rolls out pricing the HD5800 series would have to come down because I think a HD5770x2 could possibly beat a HD5850 in performance and thus would have to be priced at least the current price of the HD5850.
There are many factors to consider on the pricing of a HD5770x2 and how it would compliment the rest of the HD5000 series while pleasing consumers.

5770x2 will not exist IMO, but I think 2 HD5770 in CF will perform like one single HD5870 for a lower cost 159$ x2 against 379$...:)

Exactly.

and you have to consider how much each card would cost AMD to make. It may not make any sense for them to try to market a 5770X2. Anyone can buy two regular ones and crossfire them. Plus the prices will drop on the 5870. It will probably be around a $200 card in 6-8 months.

Single HD5770x2 would be less money than buying 2 HD5770s.
Also 2 HD5770x2 in a Xfire P45, P55, X58 would be a very powerfull quadfire set up.

A single-GPU card will always cost less than a multi-GPU card with the same performance, simply because it is less expensive to produce. A 5770X2 would theoretically have similar performance to the 5870, so there would be no point in releasing one since it would cost more to make, use more power, and not provide any advantage over the single-GPU equivalent.

And, if they do go with the 5870X2 and 5850X2 as we've seen pictures of, it'd be yet another X2 card that they'd have to support.

They'll do a 5800 series X2, since the 58XX cards are their top-of-the-market, performance cards.

The 5770 and below cards are mainstream, and I don't see AMD putting together an X2 card for what's basically a mainstream market, where it's more quality performance at a low price. A 5770 X2 would probably be in the $250-$300 range at least, and that's just not the "mainstream" market.

and if they ever check forums to see what people are thinking, they will see basically only one guy asking for the card

What if HD5770x2 were priced at $239.99 to start?

From what I have read the 128 bit memory bus interface greatly reduces production cost. This is the key component to making the HD5770 so affordable.

Not true.

The fact of the matter is that most people don't even know about the HD5770.
I think alot of people will be suprised at how well the HD5770 performs which will lead to more interest to a HD5770x2.

Again remember that ATI officially went public with their support for a HD4770x2 and I see no reeason for ATI to not support a HD5770x2.

It is close minded to think that an affordable HD5770x2 would not benefit the 5000 series.

SonDa, like you I'm excited about the 5770 and can't wait to get my hands on one as the long awaited upgrade to my 8800GTS. At $160 if early leaked specs are accurate it should be a great card.

However I really don't get the x770x2 obsession either, given the relative affordability of the 5850. If you really need the higher performance just grab a 5850 and be done with it.

If a 5770x2 comes out I'd delete my account here on the [H]...

Sonda is remarkably naive and tbh I doubt he really understands wtf he is doing with computers in general. No offense but your posts have been incredibly stupid, if you were to say yeah the 4770 was a great performing card at a good price point you "might" have a valid point and a good argument on your hands. (4850 was actually cheaper than the 4770 in places). But no you continue to be overly excessive in your love for something simply because it was on a 40nm process.

1. It's not a top performing card
2. It's expensive for the performance
3. 5850 and 5890 are 40nm
4. In order for 5770 to be special for you it would have to be 32 or 22nm which won't happen.

I have 2 5870's in Crossfire with a i7 @ 4Ghz but you don't see me bragging about it, or using it as a sig. You have a much slower setup and think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

You guys are really harsh for no reason. Having an opinion is one thing, but being a jerk and putting someone down repeatedly is another. Let him have his dream. You don't see him dumping all over yours.

My opinions on the 5770x2 are mixed. Would be a good card if price and performance are there. But QuadFire would be a stretch because of the lack of support. I guess driver updates and patches could make it possible.....maybe.

Sonda, I hope you get your card. :D

I never said anything negative against your configuration. Your negative comments don't bother me a bit. They don't speak highly of your character though.

I totally agree with your post!

Update. It appears most HD5770s will have both crossfire fingers. :)

pvhk can you please verify this on your Sapphire HD5770?

considering just one 5770 will be $159 I would doubt $239 would be realistic for a 5770x2 in the first place. also even if it was that would be stupid because by the time it comes out the 5850 will be $239 and have zero dual gpu and memory bandwidth issues. a single 5770 is half of a 5870 but sticking two of them together will still have the same memory bandwidth. sure the memory bandwidth wont really be an issue with just one 5770 but running two of them certainly wont be very efficient compared to the 5870. a 5850 with just 160sp less for the same amount of money as your proposed 5770x2 would be a much more well rounded choice.

Seems to be confusion on number of stream processors on HD5770.

I was under the impression it was going to be 1120 stream processors. If so that would be a total of 2240 stream processors for a HD5770x2. That is significantly much higher than the "160" less that you are comparing to 1600 stream processors.

Any official info on the number of stream processors for HD5770?

Looks like GPU-Z doesn't read it correctly.

its going to be 800 for the 5770. also the card will be $159 so that should easily give you a hint that 1120 isnt happening. 1120 would have made little sense in a 128bit card even with gddr5 especially at its intended price bracket. there really needs to be a 5830 to fill that $100 price and performance gap though.
