HD5770x2 Not kidding...

It's so cute...someone should get 2 of these and quad fire them haha.
 
No point in those with the 6870 and 6850 out now. These will offer more performance in a single gpu.
 
LOL, Remember guys, this is the guy that said the 4770 is just like a 5770, and that you could even bios flash a 4770 to a 5770 because the GPUs look alike!

I thought it would be cool if the HD4770 could be flashed to a HD5770. I never did it or attempted to do it.

If it were just a matter of doing a BIOS flash it would be awesome to do.

That sounds like a nVidia thing.. Since half there new shit is just rebadged old shit anyway.

Would be fun to try for those with an existing 5770 for a pseudo tri Xfire setup.

It's aimed at the same market that buys GT440-3GB cards. I've seen far crappier cards paired in retail boxes in SLI mode. While this is ultimately pointless enough suckers will probably buy it to let the vendor make a profit.

I saw that. The 5770X2 is nearly as pointless. At least doubling the chips would improve performance.

It's really all about pricing. If this card was available at a nice price I'm sure it would be a popular card.

It would be awesome to see the power of 4 of these HD5770x2s in Xfire. 8 blazing fast low voltage GPU's doing 1GHZ+ each. That would be crazy power.
 
Not sure why you would be so off center to think 8X 5770 would be LOW VOLTAGE? Would be more expensive and use FAR more power then 4X (5850's, 5870's, 6850's, 6870's).
And is 4X dual cards even possible? And what about driver? I remember people hating on the 4850X2 because of the driver nightmare.

The design of the HD5770x2 uses only 1 6-pin power connector. Sounds relatively low voltage to me.

Drivers would be an issue but from all xfire testing done that I have seen with the HD5770 it is one of the best Xfire performing cards. Makes me think that the HD5770x2 could pull off a solid 8xGPU configuration on a MB that could support it.

You do realize that you are limited to 4 GPU's. And yes is an OS limitation.

And no the 5770x2 is still one of the worst idea's next to the Snuggie

The 5770x2 is nearly a year to late even if it makes it stateside... The idea sounds cool but it is too late in the game. I'd buy a 6xxx series card before I'd get one of these.

OT: The Snuggie is not that bad of an idea... My wife likes hers. The commercials are bad though.

Why do you assume they are correct?
Look at the date on that article. People were still arguing about whether or not Barts was going to be 67xx or 68xx and how many shaders it had at that point in time. I won't believe anything about a 5770->6770 rebranding until I've seen evidence from multiple reputable sources. Moreover, the entire article seems to be based on that graphic that is obviously not an internal AMD slide..

Yeah, I will go along with that. I would never buy this card but I like the fact its being made. Plus it will make SonDa5 shut up! :D (not really ;) )
