If I have 2 drives. 1 sata and 1 ide. I unplug the power and power only to the ide drive and let the pc boot off the sata drive. Once in windows I plug the power back into the ide drive is this going to cause data loss or destroy the drive?

Well first of all, why would you want to do that?

And second, IDE drives don't support powering on like that. In addition, many motherboards don't like having the IDE connector connected to an unpowered drive. Most of the time they won't boot like that.
