HD 3870 x2 CF Question

TriFire works just fine - if your motherboard supports crossfire in the first place.
EDIT: it does. (assuming you are talking about ASUS M3A78-T )

...sell both and get something modern, there are all kinds of things you can get that'll pull way less power while performing better and more reliably, and they don't even cost that much at this point.

this. i'm not for sure but i think a single 4870 might trump that ;)

I dumped 2 3870x2 in crossfire for a single 4870x2 when they came out. It was definitely worth it then and getting more modern should be your preference now. There were too many quirks for me with the 38XX line and felt they were being held back by some architectual issues.

Heck, a single 5850 or 5870 (much more the 5970) will trump that.

But I thought he already had these cards and was asking before trying (and possibly breaking).
