I'm going to try to explain my situation as as best as possible bear in mind I'm a complete noob when it comes to audio equipment. I purchases a set of Logitech UE6000 headphones brand new 2 days ago via tigerdirect which arrived today. They been working fine with my Samsung Note II, my Microsoft Surface RT tablet, & my Macbook Pro 13 inch (late 2012 model) internal soundcloud as well as an external usb DAC DESTROYER .

However the problem I'm having is with my windows 8.1 rig (see signature) which is using an ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 Deluxe soundcard, I'm using a Monoprice 6inch Premium 3.5mm Stereo Female to 2RCA Male 22AWG Cable in order to connect the Xonar to any of my headphones. Every time I connect the headphones to the Asus Xonar i get distorted sound, it sounds like being underwater (muffle sound I guess?). However if I pull the headphone jack a bit they sound perfectly fine. but if I push the wire in the problem starts again, I'm having the same problem when I hook up the headphone to a cmoy portable amp, it sounds perfect as long as the headphone jack is about 2 mm disconnected from the cmoy amp input but if I make a secure connection the sound starts to distorted again.

I took a photo of my 2 other pair of headphone jacks so you guys can see the different between them and the Logitech UE6000 (blue wire). The Logitech has an extra black line on the jack, is that what is causing the problem? and if it is can someone point me to an adapter to fix the problem or do I need to return them? by the way my other pair of headphones work fine on on the Xonar with the monoprice 3.5mm stereo female to 2RCA adapter.

Just for your information, if you're interested: The black bands are insulators, they basically insulate the various parts of the plug. The first 2 pictured plugs have 3 poles, blue plug has 4 poles. To figure out the amount of poles, you are counting the sections of the plug that the insulators are dividing up.

There is a good chance the sound card only accepts 3 pole plugs. What's probably happening is when you put the plug all the way in, the insulator is probably making contact in the jack instead of the pole and it is causing a short. This is probably why when you pull it slightly out, it then makes contact with the poles and then you can receive sound correctly.

As far as adapters go, I would imagine there is one but I don't know of one off hand. Have you tried searching for one on google?

Thank you for the information very informative :) I sorta fix the problem for the moment on Logitech sites they mention the cable is incompatible with some smartphone 3.5mm jacks, I guess that affects some sound cards as well.

Some smartphones have a 3.5mm jack that is incompatible with the UE 6000 headphones. This can cause the audio to be weak or distorted.

I ended up using the Logitech sharing splitter that came with the headphones and it fix the problem for the moment. The headphones now work perfectly fine with my cmoy external amp as well as my Asus Xonar sound card by connecting the headphones to the splitter then to the sound card jack or cmoy jack. I'm still looking for an adapter I did email Logitech to see if they recommend an adapter to fix the issue.

The 3rd pole is for your mic, since it seems you're apparently using this for audio only you can use a 3.5mm male to 3.55mm female adapter to solve your issue.

I just got this headset for Christmas for gaming and I am having problems as well. Basically I don't have the tipple jack in my case front panel. I guess I need some kind of adapter?

I tried plugging the headset in to the microphone jack to test out the mic, and my friends on teamspeak said it sounds like I am under water.

Currently went back to my old cheap headset that has the boopm that sticks out, rather than a mic on the cord...

I was able to fix my issue with this extension cable (Bought it anyways since the cable provided was so short). It now works anywhere I connect it as long as I have the extension cable hook up.

Also thanks for the information Lights Out and Sixthsense.

Not sure how this would fix the microphone issue

Anyone have any ideas? Should I return my present? They are pretty comfortable, but the mic isn't working as well as my cheap sennheiser headset.

Well you need to split the signal somehow .If there was an adapter for both functions to work .My guess it would have to accept 3 pole female to 2 pole male ( splitting into a y; one for audio and the other for the mic. I honestly do not know where you would find one.

EDIT:

Or maybe I do lol, found this one with a quick google search.

lol no shit I must have been trying to google too hard. Headset to PC adapter lol.

But even if I get this I have my doubts the mic will work. I currently have to set it to 30db boost just so people can hear me, and they say I sound far away or "under water"

I have been sticking with my cheapo $35 sennheiser headset because it works much better. I'd love to be able to use a more comfortable better sounding set, but it seems like I can't find one that works decently. Almost everyone on here that recommends audiophile headsets must not use teamspeak much... I have also found my ears might be too big for this headset I get pain in my year from the headset after about 3-4 hours, despite the extremely high quality materials and padding used.

I'm not familiar with this specific product and generally don't touch headphones/earphones with integrated mics because in my experience they generally suck.

However, does the product allow you to play around with the positioning of the mic? It might be very picky. My aunt was just telling me she hated her Apple earbuds w/ mic because it was far too picky about positioning. I myself use an old, super cheap microphone from the late 90s that was probably about $1 to $2. It's placed several feet away from me behind my monitor. Skype friends all say the sound is good.

Should you return it? Perhaps.

I think the problem with these is they did not put any effort into the mic. The detachable cable (with mic) and quality of the earbuds is nice. However right now all I have is SupremeFX onboard sound. They are a little warmer than my AD700's, but my AD700's just sit on my desk since they are way too big to fit on my head and always feel like they are going to fall off.

Now I'm considering getting one of these:
http://www.modmic.com/

But the other part of me says I should take these back and get a 5.1 gaming headset, since that mostly what I use headsets for. I have been told the 5.1 actually does work.

Just FYI the splitter linked from Amazon, as well as most others you will find, are complete and utter crap and will fall apart on you very quickly as I found out. It's pretty easy to fab your own if you just buy the connectors from Mouser or Digikey or similar and it will actually last.

Nice, but its evident that you bought the female y to split the mic and audio. Last pic of that link .
