one night i was playing counter strike source.

i played 2 scrims and was doing fine, only my third scrim i was playing dust 2 and i noticed i was stuttering and i had alot of choke.

now it takes longer for my computer to startup, to load games, and i get alot of choke in counter strike source.

the start up and load times arnt drasticly longer but longer then they use to be. but the choke in css is deff a prob.

the last thing i did before this happened was take my harddrive out the the hd bay so i can get the serial number.

at times ill get very low fps, i have a 8800GTS, and ill get like 20fps

and i dont kno if its just me, its been a while since i tested it but before when i would touch my rams hs to see if it was hot, 2x1gbs, only 1 stick would get warm and now it seems both sticks do.

hmmm... do you have any antivirus on your computer? are there any other times it seems sluggish?

i have spybot. i have been having major pop up issues. the only problems ive had in anything other then counter strike is load times for the sims 2 and the load time for oblivion when i load my profile, other loads r fine and the game runs fine.

yeah... spybot isn't good enough it for spyware and it's not an antivirus... if you've been having lots of trouble with popups when not surfing you could have lots of things... I just jope you don't have a root kit... the good news is your hardware is probably just fine... but I would put AVG Free (antivirus) on there:
http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg75free_446a965.exe
and make sure your spybot is up to date and scan it with it as well...

with those specs you should have no problem at all with CS:S... what processes are running on our PC? could you post a screenshot of the processes running in the task manager and post it? or download Hijack this here:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
and then post the file log it generates...

I'd take Tesher's advice on this one as it does seem like you may have some type of malware on the system.

Also, in regards to your other post, your setup there will crush a Dell and probably for a lost less than Dell would charge. You picked quality parts and even got a great PSU.

Worst case here is maybe just reformat if you can't get it worked out and make sure you have yourself protected off the start. I doubt its a hardware problem.

in your last thread you stated:
you dont kno how many times i had to reformat my old dell, i was expecting stuff like that, but he told me my parts were going to die alot.

Statements like that and the fact that you have a lot of popups make me thing that in some way, however you are using your computer is causing you to get viruses which are creating malware.

Although we can't really know for sure, and it is definitely possible that it is hardware related, I sorta worry that it's more related to your usage pattern. Maybe try to work on that?

(1) don't install any programs from strange websites, crack sites, etc
(2) don't hit yes to anything "allow access from this site..." while web browsing. Get firefox and use that as your web browser, google firefox to find it.
(3) get AVG antivirus software, google it, it is free
(4) get AVG antispyware software, google it, it is free
(5) don't open files from strange emails, such as attachments. Don't click links friends send you on aim that doesn't sound like they sent it (like "Hey! Check this [site] out!"

etc...

I just spent a week dealing with memory probs and this all sounds very familiar. The longer the issue lasts the more probs accumulate. Do you know the voltage/timmings memory is rated for and what it's actually running at? Have you tried one stick at a time? That evga 680i amd memory issues often go hand and hand it seems.

my freind also suggested i download 3dmark06

Your friend also said custom builds have more problems than Dells. He also fried his mobo on his carpet.

I suggest ending the tasks:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Loudupsurferror] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\boobblehloudup\Mess Bore.exe

I just skimmed these, so I may have missed a few. I also suggest going to Start > Run > msconfig, go into the last tab I believe it is (at school right now, can't check), and uncheck the processes you never use, or have never heard of.

I also suggest running Spybot and Ad-aware, as well as an Anti-Virus. If that doesn't work, do some Registry cleaning (Registry Mechanic), Defragmenting, and run Scandisk. If that doesn't work, you may need to reinstall Windows or even reformat. But this is all based on if it's a software-related issue.

Good luck. ;)

im only get choke online, not when i play half life 2. i dont know if u get choke in single player. i have a cut in my network cable, with electrical tape over it. think this is a possibility?

If you only get sluggish online and not in single-player games, it's starting to sound more Network related..

That could definately be a problem.... and if it is, well the fix is easy and cheap;)

You haven't mentioned rather you have any a/v software or not. Download the 30 day trial version of NOD32 and scan... see what it comes up with, as you've got some questionable entries in your hjt log, sooo...

forgot to mention i have very good ping in all games.
and i got 8292 on 3dmark06

Dude, paste your hijackthis logfile at www.hijackthis.de

Follow their instructions.

Oh and turn off google desktop when you're gaming online. Sometimes google desktop interferes for some reason.

im going to post the ones that didnt know what to do, ps i deleted the party poker ones which were nastey

If you haven't done so alreadu, run an Anti-virus scan, anti-spyware scan, and anti-adware scan.

avg takes forever.

Jeezus.. just start a scan before you go to sleep, let it run and see what it comes up with. And you should really try NOD32, in my opinion it is better than AVG, and the trial is free....

i ran n0d32, much quicker then avg, and got 3 probs that i deleted.

and on 3dmark06 it says i only have 2032 mbs of ram and dxdiag says 2046, should be 2048.

ive done all the virus scans and need to know if i need to delete these.

every time i do disk clean it says i need to restart and when i do nothing happens. how do i defrag, i know how to get there but what do i do once im there.

this is happening on my sisters computer too, so its not hardware. i reseted my router but its still happening any dieas?

Good luck. ;)

This might be your best bet at this point. Just do a fresh install and make sure you have your a/v and firewall and such ready to go before connecting to the Internet. Then just make sure you install all the most recent drivers you need.
I'd do this over trying to keep troubleshooting...only takes about an hour or so vs. going crazy trying to isolate your problems.

Your hardware should be good.

read my above post, its not just my comp anymore its also my sisters. apparently my freind was getting bad choke also but his is fixed now.

2 computers, same house?

ISP problem? Router issue? Sounds like a network problem and not the computer to me...
Does your router have a hardware firewall built in? Have you tried a different (3rd) computer on the network?

Does her computer have lag issues for all internet?

Is somebody else in your house downloading torrents?
Do you have WPA security enabled on your router? There could be a neighbor leeching the signal and downloading torrents. (not that I've ever done that...)

i have no firewall
computer never lags on net
not sure about downloading, happens all the time tho even when there not on
i have wireless shut off

If this is only a CS:source problem have you checked your CS configs.

for optimum performance

CL_CMDrate 100
CL_updaterate 100
Rate 25000

your PC should get 80+ FPS at all time in CS source. its either a Network Issue or a Game issue. You can reinstall Steam much easier than the entire OS.

If you have a router then set up your gaming PC to static IP and set the DMZ to that IP address this will allow full port traffic to that IP on all gaming ports.

Last of all it can be the Servers you play on try and find 100 tic servers and see if you are still getting choke with the rates I suggested above. Some server play with your CFG file and mess up your rates to compensate for their crapp 33 or 66 tic rates. there are alot of posts in this forum on this search Choke and CS:Source to find more possible solutions.

Good Luck

Carter
