But I don't see that happening now, because x86 code runs too well on current CPUs. Perhaps Intel realized that x86 NEEDS to suck in order to get people to give it up.
All of this stuff about AMD sabotaging Intel's beautiful vision for the future is absolutely laughable. We're talking about a free market place and making money here! Intel shouldn't care less what architecture people use, as long as they're buying it from them. And they don't. Itanium was just a horrible mistake, simple as. AMD's A64 architecture was just giving the market what it wanted, simple as.
This semi-conspiracy you're peddling makes me laugh.
