I am about to go crazy because I can't figure out what is up with my PC

Here is whats wrong:

Whenever I get a couple of things going on my computer, it will either lock up, reset, or my video and audio will mess up. Someone told me that my hard drive was messed up, and I needed to get a new one, so I got a new hard drive, and installed it, only to have the same problem. My friend had a motherboard that worked with my processor, so I tried switching out the motherboard, and still the same thing. I tried using the onboard video, instead of my videocard, and i tried using one of my stick of ram instead of both, with both sticks.

I honestly do not know what is causing this problem, and it is driving me nuts. The mess ups seem to only happen when I start clicking around really fast with music going.

Any feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

How can I check my temps?

Dude that is not cool. 64 degrees cel... I advise checking the seating of your heatsink with the system unplugged. You may want to go in and clean the proc and heatsink. Use a razor and rubbing alcohol on the heatsink. ANyway clean them both. Get some arctic silver and use a DAB of that on the core of your proc. If you are uncomfortable getting around inside the system and doing this then contact someone who is more comfortable doing it. After that also see if you have active cooling on your north bridge. Active cooling means a fan. If that fan died may be time to replace it. I personally have
had that happen with two seperate motherboards.
 
Yes 64 at Idle... think that is my problem?

I ran that RAM checker, and it went through fine. Think my CPU is messed up?
 
At 64C @ Idle, yeah, thats your problem. Clean out the heatsink, put a better fan on, get a new heatsink, add case fans, SOMETHING to get the temp. down. Its too high.
 
is this a custom built machine? you could just have poor airflow in your case. Make sure you have the fans set up well. I sugguest at least one intake fan in the front bottom of the case and at least one exhaust fan at the top back of the the case.
 
you should get your comptuer to run at 60 celcius max, under full load... mine runs at 40 / 44 idle / load, and i wish it would run cooler...
 
If you are able to get your temps down, and you still have the problems, I would suggest pulling the sound card out. If you have onboard audio, I would try that and see if you have anymore problems. If you don't have onboard audio, try a different sound card if you have another one or if you can borrow one. If after changing the soundcard, everything works, then you have found the culprit. It could be the card has a resource sharing problem, old drivers or something like that.

Make sure you get the temps down first. They are too high.
 
It's a custom build machine... I built it about 2 years ago, I got 2 case fans. I pulled the heatsink off, and my thermal paste is like everywhere but on the core. I am ganna attempt to redo it tomorrow. Do you think I should just buy a new heatsink? or just re-therm it?
 
Redo the thermal paste first. There is no reason to go get a new heatsink if the heatsink itself is not the problem. Applying new thermal paste won't cost you anything since you already have it. If it doesn't change your temps then you can look at getting a new heatsink.
 
64C? Whoa crap. Yeah, follow the suggestion on reseating the CPU/Heatsink.

Make sure that you put enough thermal paste and follow the guide on arctic silver website if you are using their paste.
