Ok guys, this might sound stupid. But I think it'd be cool if we started a HardFolding podcast.

Why?

Cause I love podcasting (and doing one just isn't enough). But I think it'd be cool to hear from not only people on our team, but maybe we can get some of the people over at Stanford and OCAU to come on the show and talk about folding and what's happening in our little world.

My General Thoughts
It wouldn't be a daily or even weekly thing. Maybe every few weeks. Give me time to edit and produce it.

Who could be on it?

It'd be cool to hear from people on our team, such as unhappy_mage talking about his linux distro and maybe have him do an audio walkthrough. Maybe have King_N talk about HF.com and where he wants to go with it, (and maybe have Marty on to mock Moose, well maybe that's a bad idea ).

Also have Stanford people talking about the project, what we've done, current projects (vid card folding, etc), and where the project is headed. Also maybe they can address the QMD issue. I think only soo much can be expressed with text, when you can get a human voice behind it and let them explain things it'd make a lot of sence.

What else could it cover?

That's all I've come up with so far, I'll add to this post as we brainstorm. But I want to know your thoughts. The way I look at it, it's going to be about the entire folding community but done by our team and of course we'd plug ourselves and our work. It'd leave it open for other teams to do something similar. Sure you can call it biased, but I'm not a politically correct guy and I'm loyal to the [H]orde to the very end. So what I need from you guys is whether or not you're interested in it or not. And ideas on what kind of programming you'd be interested in hearing on the show. I want it to be mainly community driven content and I'm open to just about anyone joining me on the show via Skype for some interview action.

Maybe a co-host? Anyone interested?

Also, I might need webhosting for the MP3 files, all depends on how popular this gets.

You could always use bittorrent to get file out... no web space needed.

I'd be glad to talk about almost anything linux-related. For endless hours. :rolleyes:

That looks like a good list. However, it'd be best to have a post-'cast summary for those who don't want to listen to the whole thing, with the links mentioned, a summary of the HF.com changes, that kind of thing.

I'll have to wait til I move to Debian for that, emerge is working less and less every day.

I have 100mb of webspace with my school, which is a good place to host due to incredible speeds. I also have a filefarmer account (with 3gb I think...), which is not so great due to uploads being broken half the time and a max. file size of 45MB or something. Still, if you need hosting I can at least help out.

I just wonder if it could be done in a way to be more exciting than paint drying. If it can, it might be a good idea.

I also hate the word 'podcast' myself. Lets call it 'streaming audio' or 'audio show' or something like that. I'd like to kick the person in the nuts that created that word to describe what people have been doing for years.

I think it'd be cool to spread the word... What all would you guys want to include? how-tos? FAQs? Aussie vs. [H]orde covereage?

I'll try to make it as interesting as possible. And of course I'll have show notes with links and a complete outline of the show. Feel free to send show names my way. Maybe I'll do like Mage and have a poll to name the show.

 
We would also need Kyle's blessing on this if we are even going to mention anything [H] related. Sorry to be a killjoy....but thems is the breaks.

All in all, I think it is a good idea.

For those currently voting "Sounds good, what's podcasting".

It'd be an online radio show that I'd put together. But it wouldn't be a streaming radio channel or anything like that. I'd be preproduced, and when I feel a show is ready I'll put it up for download. But here's the cool part. You would subscribe to the show, your computer would check for a new show, when there is one it will grab it and have it ready for you to listen on your time. Think of it as Tivo for radio. If you use Itunes it makes it easy to sync the show to your Ipod and listen to it anywhere

carnival forces is doing a watch me overclock thread how about having CF on to talk about some of the details of overclocking stably for folding?

I think you should change your sig from:

since you want to make a podcast of the last thing... dont forget the middle thing, and get us some more of the first thing too.

Back on-topic. Chileman, I like it the way it is....I would wait a day or so before going to Kyle, however....today is not a good day. :)
 
Ya, I was gonna wait and see if anyone else has anything to say, edit my original post and PM taht to Kyle. I'll let things cool off for a day or two.

My whole point of that? Send suggestions. It'll be your show so tell me what you want to hear! I'm currently peicing together some of the intro right now.

Also still taking suggestions for names for the show. Can't do a ton without a name.

 
K, well Pimp the Contests!!!! You could have [H]-bowl updates, or have moost don the swami-cap and have a Moosey-sez segment where he picks his weekly winners. :D
