What's up with the hardfolding.com site? I gave King the logins, does anyone know what is up with that?

I haven't heard anything. I was wondering the same thing myself.

Still waiting for the database and file access issues to be fixed, just sent you another email. I can't do anything on this end until those issues are resolved.

Good to see Kyle interested in our Forum. The lag time to contact him seems to be a week or so. It would be nice to have [H]ardfolding back on line. We are gaining new recruits daily. Tired of relying on Extreme OC's, for up to the minute data on America's premiere folding team.

Sorry Kyle, but access to log into FTP is not the problem, I can access FTP just fine, however when I try to make changes I get file permission errors.

Edit
Rename
Delete
Change file permissions

Gives me the message "Permission denied".

Not something *I* can fix on this end, that's admin only.

After the previous email you sent, I installed the same versions of apache, php, and mysql on my local testbed server, *I am running the exact same versions* and have absolutely no problems, hardfolding is running perfectly there.

This is not a problem with my coding.

The problems are simple the file/user ownership permissions have to be changed allowing me to edit/rename/delete hardfolding files as needed(that can only be changed by the admin).

As far as MySQL is concerned, these are the possibilities.

1) User/password does not exist or has been changed.
2) The hardfolding database does not exist
3) The MySQL command line changes to make the previous setup compliant with the new version have not been done, thus making the user/pass invalid.

Mysql command-lines must be given from someone who has access to root(once again admin), once done if the login is the same the site will come right up depending on of course the database and tables still exist, if the tables are gone I can re-enter all the info, that's not a problem.

When I try to telnet in it tells me could not open a connection to host, so I do not have access to a telnet login, even if I did I do not have access to root(not to mention I don't want that type access), I can not give the mysql root command lines needed to fix the problem.

Right now even though I want it fixed and was ready to fix it the very day it was brought back online, I don't have the access to fix it. This is by no way, shape, or form laziness on my end. I want hardfolding up and running and if the problems were something that could be fixed simply by adding a few lines to my coding it would have been done the first day.

Sorry Kyle, but access to log ......<snip>
Roger that. I will get Cliff to look into this. Thanks for the detail.

I deleted the off-topic posts in this thread. Let's keep it on topic from here out so it accomplishes something please.

I checked the site tonight and it is still in the same condition it was since the last post.
Any word on the glorious return of the [H]ard Folding site?

It will be like the rebirth of the pheonix....out of the ashes...you get the idea! :D

No there is not. We have been dealing with our own problems this week.

Ok this is on topic, I have this I would like to point out about the Hardfolding website.

I have tried the links in Projects they are ok.

The member section has all except three links working, the rest of the links come back as: can't connect to database.
Links that work: f@h milestones, UD milestones, [H]ardfolding chat.

The other links all work, the hard forum link points to the Distributed Computing forum, not sure if it should point there or the hard forum main page.

Tried to login and that is not working.

I used to program in vb6 in the past, but database is way over my head, but I hope I pointing these problems out helps you kyle.

Our sysadmin will be contacting King. Been busy on our end as we are preparing for a pretty big hardware role out for HardOCP.

It's Back, WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Thank you King_N for all the [H] work on the site, and thanks to Kyle and everyone that keeps the [H]ard servers up and running!!

YAY!

On a sad note (looking at all the stats. way cool btw) sad to see so many skulls :(

Yep it's back online, I'm still working on a few issues but those should be taken care of soon.

Thanks again Kyle and Cliff for all the help to get things running again.

I have this little problem with the site, does the login work or do I have to sign back up on the site?

I used the newest backup I had to restore everything, if your name/password is invalid you will have to re-register.

Registration is not needed to view the stats, however it is needed if you want to add/display/edit your info in the [H]orde member area, or display pictures of your farm.

now can King or the older members explain the stats? what is with the red and blue bars with the numbers? what is the cool shooting thingies and the bandit chipmunk?

There are 2 links labeled "Stats Help" up by the last update that will take you to a page that will explain everything. Sorry there's just too much info to post here.

King, just wondering (I know you are busy already just trying to revive it)
but any plans on a new look to the page? New colors (please!) or any
new features you are thinking about putting in? :)
