I've been toying with the idea of building a sff system to drive a 24" lcd for work/surfing/media, but I've never built a computer from scratch. I've upgraded things such as hard drive, disk drives, memory, memory cards on my old desktop, but I've never touched the processor, heatsink, psu, etc. I don't really plan to game on it, so no overclocking is needed. So how hard is it to put a processor on a motherboard properly with the paste and such and then making sure it all fits at the same time?
Not too sure on all the specific parts yet, but something along the lines of:
X-Qpack 420?
C2D E6400
<some sort of mobo...>
eVGA 7950GT 256mb
2gb memory
250gb HD
dvd writer
I don't really know if the stock heatsink and fan that comes with the C2D is good enough, also not really sure about the stock psu
Any tips for a first time builder, or should I just pay someone to put it all together for me?
