H50 noise

So the past couple of days ive noticed an audible noise coming from my computer however my time to diagnose the problem has been limited as of late. However today the noise got considerably worse.

I found the noise was coming from the h50 pump and unplugging the header for an instant boot remedied the problem. So after rummaging around in some old boxes i found a 3pin to molex adapter and hooked it straight to the PSU. And voila no noise.

Is this something to be worried about? Is that setup sustainable?

Current Mobo is an asus p7p55d-e

was the mobo running fan controll on the one header the H50 pump was attached to? The H50 wants constant 12V.

I've seen Corsair replace pumps that make more noise than usual while operating and it could be an indication of a failing pump.
