[H]ard|DC Case Badges

What do you think about another run of [H]ard|DC case badges?

I've gotten a couple of requests for [H]ard|DC case Badges in the past few days but I'm basically out (2 I'm saving for a special occassion). Let me know in this thread if there is interest in a second run of the current badges or a new contest for new badges. IF there is enough interest, I will ask for permission to run a new batch or a new contest.

Heh... I think you've got me to thank for that. I wasnt sure if you had any, but I stuck a link up in the [H] merch thread, as some people were saying they wanted [H] case badges.

I say have a new contest and do another run of them. I'd probably get a few more.
 
I like the old design, but I definatly wouldnt mind seeing a new one if that's what everyone wanted.

We had a multi-month multi-thread competition that included people submitting case badge work and then voting on the best of those then we had another vote on THE best badge. Very fun.

I like the current design. And as long as I have enough points when you make some, I want to buy a few :)
 
I like the current design, but seeing some new ones would be cool too. I don't suppose it'd be possible to have a couple different ones available?

 
I like the current ones. Any chance on a price change from last year? Just wondering what the preliminary results are.
 
As an additional idea, what about maybe have new artwork submitted and see if anything knocks off the current design. That way the opportunity for something new is there, but we've always got a standby. :D

This is probably the best idea yet. Allow people to make some new designs, and then we could vote on a new design or keeping the old one.
 
Actually, I was thinking the same thing. We could have a contest and then a runoff between the winner and the current design. I'm not certain about offering both. I would have to find someone that produces a high quality badge in smaller numbers. It took about 10 months to sell the last batch (around 150).

As far as as the cost for selling them, if costs to make the actual badges doesn't go up, it would be very close. I'll have to run the numbers. About $0.70 was made off each of the last badges and that money was, for the most part donated to other Hard|DC events (router folder, Tsunami relief, etc.) I want to keep the badges at a whole $ number $3 versus $4 isn't much of a difference.
 
I like the badges we have now, but interested in seeing new designs.

I would buy several badges like I did the last time, but only if it was a different design. I'm not interested in more of the same. Besides, I think the older badges should not be duplicated, so they would become collectors items. ;)

That is a good point, different badge actually represents a particular year or years, I like the sound of that!

 
I agree with the "collectors item" theory. A new run of badges should have a new design, thus making the old ones that much cooler ;).

 
The badges would be great prizes for contests like the Spank-a-Roo gauntlet.

By the way, when the above mentioned contest ended, where were the prizes for those who spanked their Roo? :( ;)

 
more badges, YES I would get another five if we have another batch run, and a contest would stir up some more folding fever,

and that's a good thing :)

I like amenthes' perspective. :)

Mine bent slightly when relocating it to the new case so I could use another. Also, I don't get enough questions about this one. Make a more peculiar version that gets questions. I'll get at least one. Oh, and if at all possible haggle for a lower price.

1. I'm back from my "vacation."
2. We have the okay to run a new contest

Bad new:
1. My vacation was to get my eyes fixed (PRK surgery) so it's a little difficult at the moment to use the computer for any length of time.


I'll start a new thread soon with a draft of the contest rules. Amenthes gave me a site with a fairly "cheap" cost for more limited runs, so I am thinking of making a "limited" order of the "old" badges, an order of the anti-roo badges and make them available during the competition for the new 2006 badges (it will give me an opportunity to check the quality of the new source for the badges.

Keep an eye out.

Yes, I'll probably work on it this weekend. I've been coming home from work with a splitting headache from asking eyes that have been cut to read and function all day. I should have the ability to put it together on a day I don't have to work in an office.

Where they remove the protective part of your eyeball and then burn off some of your cornea to reshape the eye. All in an attempt to make your eyesight better. It's a lot like LASIK except that the end result is a more stable eye (structure of the eye) and it is hurts more at the onset/takes longer to heal.

I'm going to have to have one of these done eventually.. my eyesight is crap even with contacts.

 
The only freaky part is when you smell your burnt eyeballs (like the smell of burning hair).
 
Yup, I did it a few years ago. Man, it's wonderful! That smell is something to remember, though. It's pretty straightforward--a 20-minute procedure, you go home, take a sleeping pill, and wake up the next morning with perfect or near-perfect vision. Good stuff.
