Guild Wars 3

Can't help but fear they have SERIOUSLY shot themselves in the foot by making it a prequel.

Think of all the events that have happened in GW2 and so necessarily CAN'T happen in GW3, else it won't make any sense.

All the Dragons, all the new races discovered, all the key game lore that has unfolded over the years, none of this can even be alluded to. The entire world is going to be insanely limited, unless they just say fuckit and re-write the entire game world history.

Kind of insane move if you really think about it. Guild Wars 2 will remain the current game lore, will they stop making more content for it? Is what we have today basically the end of the entire story, if we all go back in time for GW3!?

CRAZY!

No. They are doing a bunch of overhauls, then continuing expansions for gw2. They confirmed this after the gw3 announcement.

It takes place over 1000 years in the past. There are lots of things that can be forgotten in a couple hundred years much less a thousand. They can still have things that were lost to time that end up being uncovered in later GW2 expansions that players will now know might be coming.

Been playing in the GW universe since , I think it might have been the PAC beta for the original, where your newb zone was basically outside gates of Kryta that was made into kinda an open land. Excited for this.
I actually like that it's taking place in a different time, adds to the universe, we'll get a lot of interaction with the gods, maybe unravel some more on where they came from, and more. Kind of stinks that technically won't have Sylvari, but also means we might have giants and Dwarves to play as.

I also like that it's doing Arena's forte of making it something different and unlike their other games. I get a feeling it might be a little closer to GW1 in some areas for instanced things, but could be wrong. Interested none the less.

I like the setup of guild wars 1 over 2 for the most part. Solo content in MMO's is just really easy boring content you have to slog through until you can play harder group content which is where these type of games shine.

I like how in Guild Wars 1 you're just always expected to be in a group and if you can't cobble one together you hire henchman. I also preferred how you would pick two classes and blend them together rather than having a job and just using different weapons to get different skills.

I think it's smart that they seem focused on more action style combat. I just hope it's not so mind numbingly easy that it's a chore to get through. I also hope they offer engaging group content from the start so you don't have to slog through the boring stuff to get to the good part (if they make the solo content easy like every mmo for the last 20 + years).

I have sort of gravitated to games that provide engaging group content with scalable difficulty from the jump like Deep Rock Galactic, Vermintide/Darktide, Helldivers ect. You don't have to slog through boring stuff to get to the good group content.

I'm just going to assume people don't get into new wow expansions so they can play easy solo content and then just do solo dailies once they hit their max level. Those games to me are at their best with 4-5 players going through dungeons or doing PVP if that's your flavor.
