Is 2 x 25A +12v rails be enough for overclocked i7 (3.85 @ 1.32v) 6 sticks of ram (1625 @ 1.65v) and a GTX470 on stock voltage? Guru3D seem to think that 35A in total for the GTX470 and 40A for the 480 on an overclocked i7 rig.
 
Which PSU do you have?

We need to know how much wattage is available total on the +12V rail. You do not add up the rails like that. The Guru3D recomendations is based off the total amperage on the +12V rail that's determined by the max wattage available on the +12V rail. It's not based on adding up the rails.

So please tell us what PSU you have.

OCZ modxtreme 700w
So 550W total +12v

Also worth mentioning that i went onto that PSU calculator and apparently my total system overclocked will use between 500 and 550w max (added a couple of hdd's, optical drives and 2 more fans that i dont have just to be safe)
 
As long as you keep that OCZ ModXStream Pro 700 from reaching higher than 40C, that PSU will be sufficient for your planned setup.
 
Coming from the [H] review aye? That's why i'm asking and i've spent over £1000 and dont think i can slip another £100 through for a new PSU for a month.
What's the best way (easiest) to measure the temperature of the PSU?

Hmmm play it by hand i think lol.
Looking at reviews and the like under a normal 21c room they stick well below 40c under stressing. [H] review was done under 40c testing environment, i live in dingey, grey, windy and rainy england, so i think i'll be ok for a little while going into winter n'all.

Though that said. I will be looking for a 800w/850w PSU upgrade soon, any suggestions? As close to £100 as possible, may got £10-£15 over if it's worth it.
