It's a 295, not a 285
Looks insane though.
It's a 295....
I took a quick look on Xtremesystems and apparently the 3 cards on the whole forum between two member are all overheating like mad.
That thing looks pimp, but does it cool well? I'd definitely consider one of these.
More like 460W for an entire system containing one of these cards, and from the wall as well meaning the actual draw from the PSU is much lower. I'd estimate about 300W per card for the actual power usage, not including any other components. Still a ton of power obviously, but considering the fact that each of these cards is equivalent to a pair of GTX285s in SLI, it's not surprising.100 watts higher than a standard GTX295. it's [h]ard but it's getting ridiculous. 2 of those cards in quad sli consume close to 900 watts under load. playing crisis for long periods = high eletric bill.
Actually, a GTX 295 is 2x GTX 275.Yeah, it does! I was reading through and technically something completly different. 2x 285s not a 295 (which is 2x260)
Just like Extreme Edition CPUs, this card was never meant to be a bang for the buck product. You can buy TWO gtx 295 for the price of one mars 295. I'd say the former is better bang for the buck.
do i put that in my rig or pop it in the VCR?![]()
Yeah, it does! I was reading through and technically something completly different. 2x 285s not a 295 (which is 2x260)
Can't the companies come up with something more useful than these Frankensteins, like maybe cooling solutions that are better than the reference designs on offer...
gtx295 and GTX 275 is not common with the GTX260...bit silly really.
The GTX285 simply produces too much heat for a dual card solution from what I can see.
I can however, see the point in the Mars though,...the fact remains that the 285 is the fastest single card solutions regardless of value...put 2 together and you have the fastest solution (until the HD5870 is properly reviewed and released)
well the gtx275 is just a gtx260 with faster clocks and the other 24sp/8tmu unlocked. the gtx295 is basically 2 gtx275 cards with gtx260 speeds. so you really could look at the gtx295 as also being 2 gtx260 cards with all the sp/tmu unlocked. remember too that the gtx295 came out before the gtx275 anyway. in reality they all are the same gpus with different speeds and locked or unlocked sp/tmu.for $#%@ sake...the GTX 275 IS the GTX 295 in tandem...not the GTX 260 or GTX 285
Read...the GTX 295 and the GTX 275 are NOT the same as the GTX 260, end of story.
(facepalm)
but technically the gtx295 IS two gtx260 cards with sp/tmu cluster unlocked. it has the same clocks and memory specs as the gtx260 and came out before the gtx275 was even thought of. so you can call the gtx295 either 2 gtx260 cards with unlocked sp/tmu cluster or you can call it 2 gtx275 cards with slower specced memory and lower clocks. its the same difference either way.yeah like I was saying GTX 295 = 2 GTX 275's downclocked...not GTX 260's.
more TMU's and Stream processors than the GTX 260.
It's rather significant.
Otherwise we may have started saying that the 8800GTS was the same as the 8800GTX etc etc
