GTX 680 Downclocks?

While playing ARMA 2 my EVGA GTX 680 has started to downclock for some reason?
I have had the card for about a month now and it has only just started to do this these last few days. I know this because I overclocked the card using presision X and have the on screen display server running in the top left because i like to keep an eye on my temp and fan speeds.

Any ideas on why this is happening?
 
Do you have the power limit turned up? How are the card temps? How much does it downclock? What's the GPU usage like when it starts to downclock? It could be temperature or power throttling, or it could be dynamically downclocking because the GPU load is low. What do you have set in the Nvidia control panel for power management?
 
If you have adaptive Vsync or a Frame Rate Limiter enabled, the card will downclock if you are maintaining 60fps (no need to use the power to generate frames you don't need).
 
Yes I had the power limit turned up, the card temps where fine between 60 and 70 degrees, downclocks to about 540 mhz, GPU usage is at 99%, mem at about half of what it normally is.. The Nvidia control panel for power management is set to "adaptive". Vsync in Arma is disabled and I havnt touch the frame rate limiter. When I fired up Arma 2 campaign I noticed a drop in performance after playing for about 30 mins... Crysis also runs at these speeds???
 
Something similar happens to me while playing company of heroes. Although the frame rates are around 40 and the temperature of the card is about 80, the card down clocks to 800Mhz. Seems to me like a bug of some sort.
 
Try setting the power management to "Maximum Performance" (or whatever that option is called). Are you using the new 306 drivers? They seem to be more aggressive about downclocking than the older ones - although your issue seems to be more than just that.

Yeah I just changed the power management to maximum performance. And yes I downloaded the new 306 drivers, I think it could be that.. Im new to overclocking and tinkering about with pc's but I Appreciate your help.
 
If you are new to Kepler then you might have done pretty much the same mistake as I did.. Too low of a power target.. Overclocking Kepler cards involves increasing the Power target as much as you can and then increasing the clock speeds. If you increase the clock speeds at the stock power target your card came with then your card will downclock because of limited power. I also did the same mistake with my Direct CUII Top till I fiddled with the power target... I now have mine at 132% but I think I can still increase it a bit further.
