GTX 570 Step up to.. 660ti or 670?

i paid 275 ar for gtx 570.. and if 660ti 2gb is a slight increase of power for 45 dollars. i dont mind.. but from reviews that 192bit bus is pretty terrible.

Im thinking of stepping up to the 670 but i would feel pretty terrible about it because of all the stellar reviews of the FTW edition

my dude.. the FTW is the same card with higher clocks. you can easily surpass those clocks with a ref 670.. you are buying the same card. Theres a reason the FTW and the ref. are so close in price...

from what ive heard the ftw has the 680 pcb and better chips =/

idk man you have two choices right? its only the 2 you can pick from amiright? so the FTW shouldnt be involved in your consideration. the ref 670 is no slouch man. even the ref. ones are within 10-5% difference in performance from a 680

you are absolutely right. dispute the fact they used the smaller and lower end pcb.. the vanilla 670 is no joke.

I've taken a look at the total cost for upgrade paths

GTX 670 FTW Route

GTX 570 SC Price paid - 275
Sell on craigslist - 175
Loss - 100 from price i paid

400-175(sold price) = 225 price need to pay +100 lost from price paid = 325

Vanilla GTX 670 step up route
Cost for 670 - 400
Step up- 145

Total saved -180

The only thing that got me thinking was.. is how is the 660ti compared to the 570 sc.. for a price step up of 45

the 660ti is no slouch either dont get me wrong as you can see it will still be a significant improvement from your 570. 20-25% but considering the price of the step up to the 670 its just a better choice thats all

It depends on your budget: the 660 Ti isn't a slouch at all (as Dremic said), and once overclocked (especially on the VRAM) ends up being quite good, heck in Guru3d's review when oc'd heavily it ended up as fast as a stock 680 (just for reference, yes I know the 680 can be oc'd but that's not the point here). Really, you can't go wrong here: get the 660 Ti step-up and buy some games or other upgrades/items, or get the 670 and get some more performance if you don't need the cash for other things. :)

Here's the link to the review I'm referring to: http://www.guru3d.com/article/msi-geforce-gtx-660-ti-power-editon-oc-review/26

660ti is a poor upgrade from a 570. and if you are going to talk about the 660ti being oced then also think about the 570 being oced. stock to stock or oced to oced, its a relatively minuscule upgrade.

so i take it 670 vanilla or 680 hehe

you havent said anything about a budget really. that helps people give advice. obviously if you are willing to pay the money you should go with the 680.

i actually wish i spent the 100$ and got the 680

well my budget was really from 300-400 because i plan to buy extended warranty on the cards

spend that money on a 680 and skip the warranty. You have a warranty with 3 year warranty already. and if you are using this card in 3 years its probably around the time you want to upgrade. unless you are me and you upgrade every year or every other year

Let me make my opinion plain to avoid confusion. If you have the budget get the 680 step up. That's your only choice if you want the better pcb. Again it's your choice!

q time
step up to ref 660ti #2
step up to ref 670 #2
step up to ref 680 #380

base on performance alone is the 680 worth the $100 for the small performance boost?
