GTX 570 Question.

Right now I have a reference ASUS GTX 570 and I'm in the market to get a second reference card for SLI. If I were to get a card from a different brand could I flash it with the ASUS BIOS?

IDK, but SLI will work between two GTX 570s that are of different vendor.

No need to flash a different BIOS. Like night_2004 said, you can do SLI between any cards that are the same chip (e.g., GTX 570) and same VRAM size.

You don't even have to use two reference cards, you can use a non-reference, but if it's factory overclocked it will just clock down to reference speeds (or, ideally, you can overclock the reference to match the factory OCed one)

For instance, I was using a reference MSI 570 and a EVGA SuperClocked HD (non-reference design) together in SLI and they worked great. The reference was 732 MHz core and the SC HD was 797 MHz, so I clocked both cards up to 800 MHz and called it good.

I understand that compatibility isn't a factor. The ASUS BIOS has unlocked voltages and I'd like to match the cards clock for clock.

Ah, in that case you'll probably want an ASUS or a competing card that has a different utility for over-volting that can achieve the same clocks. Unless the power circuitry is identical between your ASUS and another card I doubt a BIOS flash will work.

I had figured that since the cards are both a reference design they would be physically the same.
