ok hey guys new to the forum just wanted to ask a few question after long thinking ive come to the conclusion of buying a 9800gt or gts 250 graphic card but since i live in india i dont have alot of choices therefore very limited and newegg or amazon dont ship here anyway my question are as follows if possible please answer me question wise
1. Is it worth getting a GTS 250 over a 9800gt because i will not play above 1440x900 resolution as i have a 19 inch
2.i have a HP A6450IN >> THOSE WERE the product specifications these are the motherboard info >>http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01357119&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3707449&lang=enhttp://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01412860&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3707449&lang=en[/url] ok now i just wanted to know if the gts 250 or the 9800gt will fit in my case as both cards are approximately 9 inches or 23 cm as it says the motherboard is 9.6 inches so does that mean it will fit ??
3. just wanted to know if i have to install the gts 250 which is a dual slot as seen from my motherboard picture will this cause any problem as i dont have anything occupying the pci slot or the express x 1 so is there any problem installing the gts 250
4. IF I Game on a 37 inch full hdtv will a 1 gb of either the 9800gt ot the gts 250 come in handy
5.now i know the various modes of connecting a card to the tv but for example is it worth getting a hdmi cable over a vga cable for gaming on my big screen??
!!PLEASE ANSWER QUESTION WISE!!

hold on my eyes are bleeding alittle.

What cards (link required) specifically are you looking at/what price do you plan to pay?

The GTS250 would be better to future proof yourself. Honestly, unless you are playing titles that can eat up more the 512MB VRAM, it shouldn't make a difference. Only games like Oblivion IV can eat up more the 512MB memory, however if a modern game is eating more than 512MB, either of these cards would buckle under the massive load and would not be enough.

Honestly, the 9800GT isn't a bad card, but I've used a GTS250 in the system in my sig and there is a noticeable difference between the two.

Yeah, the GTS250 is a dual slot, but unless you are like me and REALLY need the PCI-E 1x slot, it wouldn't really matter.

Also, it should fit in your case just fine unless you have a really tiny case.

you wont be using either one of those cards in that HP with the stock psu. that HP either has 250watt with 14amps on the 12v or 300watt psu with 19 amps on the 12v that is not safely capable of powering either one of those cards. if you have that 300watt psu then you would be okay with a 4670. if you have the 250watt psu then a 9500gt is the very highest you can safely use.

well i have have a umm normal sized case i dono 35 cm and the card is 23 cm so do you think its possible and also could you suggest me a good budget powersupply ill porbably never go sli on this pc ill be doin it on my next cheers

Oh pishposh, you don't know what you're talking about.

His PSU will be fine until it explodes. :p

Yeah, getting a better PSU would be upgrade numero uno, and definitely before the card.

Even a really good 350watt with dual 12v rails or a single big one with 30amps+ on the 12v rail should be enough for one of those cards, but getting a 400watt or above would be more safe.

The 500 watt would be great, assuming it will fit into your case. If it does, you'll be just fine. :)

i was thinking about the cooler master 500?
Coolermaster doesn't make any particularly good 500W PSUs. Please post a list of different PSU models that are available to you where you live and we'll see if we can find you a good one.

A well reviewed PSU is critical.
The split in the rails matters little.

Read reviews from decent reviewers ie [H], JonnyGuru...
Dont pick arbitrary PSU's at random.

Well this is the cooler master 500 w extreme http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?act=detail&id=3738 but i still dont get 1 thing is 18 amps dual rail better or a 30 amp single rail corsair 450 w better but even though corsair is underpowered it is still more powerful wth?!?!

You might want to read this PSU FAQ:
http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1036

Anyway, a good budget PSU would be this:
$50 - Antec Earthwatts 430W PSU

Zero82z is right: CM does not make good ~500W PSUs that are worth their costs.
Nenu is right: Always do research when it comes to PSUs. Good places for PSU reviews would be HardOCP and JonnyGURU.com.

EDIT: Huh, just noticed that particular HP is only sold in India and that you mentioned that your current residence is India. Oops. In that case, please tell us what PSUs are available to you via by your country's online stores or local vendors. If you're buying the PSU online, please link us to the website you're buying from.

Oh and to answer your questions:
1) How much extra is the GTS 250 over the 9800GT?
2) The 9.6" refers to the height of the motherboard, not the length/depth of the motherboard. However, both video cards should be able to fit inside your case AFAIK.
3) Since there's nothing in the PCI-E x1 or PCI slot, you shouldn't have any problem installing and cooling the GTS 250 on that motherboard
4) The extra VRAM might come in handy depending on the game.
5) For gaming on a big screen HDTV, definitely go with DVI or HDMI (HDMI is pretty much equal to DVI quality wise)a

Picking the 9800GT or GTS250 really depends on the price difference. The GTS250 is faster, but worth the price difference? whats the price?

And for a PSU recommendation, Corsair makes great PSUs. Their 400w PSU is a great choice for a mid range system.

ok now the difference between the gts 250 and 9800gt is the gts 250 in my country is 180$ whereas the 9800GT is 140$ after conversion therefore the difference is 40 $ . The place where i buy my psu`s are in the following link http://techshop.in/store/index.php?cPath=320_194 so could you please tell me something valuble i do not need anything overkill as i will not be ever upgrading any part in this system as i am collecting up for a new pc in 3 yrs so please tell me least i can cut it with a powersupply as i am on a budget according to extreme powersupply calculator i need a 300 watt but i know i need a minimum 400w so could u tell me from the list what to choose?

Get the more powerful single rail psu. On second thought, I checked out the specifics. The 450W only has 1x6 pin pcie connector. You'll probably want at least 2x6 pin pcie connectors if you want to connect a more powerful card in the future. Up to you. If you plan to do a whole new system later, then the 450 is enough for the 250 gts now. But not enough for a second one, nor for a gtx 260 or hd 4870, etc. Dang the 500 is the same. Only 1x6 pin pcie. Yeesh. Can't you just order a better one from newegg?

This is a decent power supply:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703015

It also has better connectors for video cards. 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin (that can also do 6 pin). I have a 750W pc power and cooling myself. But it depends on how much you want to spend on your psu.
