GRID 2.

- game so far is better than grid 1.

- But The AI needs some work.

- Also random hiccups that slow the game to a crawl then fast forward to catch up are damn annoying.

- Handling is much improved over grid 1 also.

Sounds terrible.

From the sounds of it, you won't want a wheel for this. You could use a wheel with iRacing, RFactor, Race07, RaceRoom Racing Experience, etc. This is being developed for the arcade racers though. IE: Controllers.

Well that's unfortunate. GRID 2 is the only reason I bought a wheel! Stuck at work right now, so I'll have to see how it plays with my Logitech DFGT when I get home.

True.

Also, Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed can become a lot of fun with mods. Look into the Unofficial Community Patch (UCP) and Nominal Tyre Mod (NTM). No Grip Racing has files and info.

Thanks, will have to check that out. I grabbed Shift 2 to use my wheel while waiting for this, and Shift 2 is... OK at best.

Yeah, it never gets great, and the mods will make the game harder, so don't expect fast lap times, but the handling feeling improves.

Check out R3E on steam. It's F2P and has good handling feeling.

Yeah, GRID 2 definitely isn't a racing wheel type of a game.

Oh well. Guess I can return the wheel and save myself $140. :)

Should I get a 360 controller, a logitech one, or wait for the PC version of the xbox one controller?

Just get a 360 controller.

Why would you even bother waiting for the Xbox One controller that won't be release until Holiday 2013? Also, Microsoft has not explicitly confirmed official PC support for the controller anyways.

The handling feels more slidy and weighty than their previous games.

Current accidental yet ultimately successful barrel roll count: 1

And I think that’s the main problem with Grid 2, the one thing keeping it from being a truly great racer: bad design choices. I can’t really fault Grid 2 for being a bad game in the traditional sense; it plays well and looks spectacular, but it seems as if Codemasters has had a radical change in staff, as Grid 2 is an immense departure from the original and rarely impressed me in the ways the original did. Most of the new features, such as LiveRoutes, or the restructured career mode, are pretty much the opposite of what people who play racing games want, and some, such as the over-saturation of social media cutscenes, have no place in a racing game to begin with. The lack of cockpit view doesn’t hurt the game, but it definitely opened the door for more lousy design choices, as career mode is a chore to play through, and very rarely does the game challenge you to be a better virtual race car driver. The opportunity for Codemasters to release one final awesome racing game on this console generation has been missed, as Grid 2 is unexciting and entirely forgettable, designed by a team of people who have seemingly never played a racing game before and are totally unsure of what features can make a racing game FUN past the initial few laps.

6/10

^This. Played career mode for most of the day and I have to agree with most points in the linked review. G2 has no heart, it is a very mediocre arcade racer. I would wait for a Steam sale or other discount before spending money on this title.

So far this is really not as fun as the first game, the career mode is comparatively meh.

Man and I was going to buy this one after enjoying G1 immensely. Any of you's play MP yet? How is it? Hopefully the fucks don't drop the master server for MP (if MP turns out good) like they did for G1.

I don't know if its SLI or something else, but there's a significant lag and stutter even in SP. I see down to 0% scaling with 2 660s if anyones wondering about that.

Give Nvidia a month to get it figured out. Usually I'd say 2 weeks, but they just launched the 700 series so game optimizations will hit the back burner for now probably.

Any sub $30 leads for this one??

EDIT..Found one.Downloading now. :)

Ninja review...So far so good..Maxed,looks pretty nice. Handling takes some getting used to..More playing time needed. : )

This..

Plus, Im sure games would have to be programmed to utilize the rumble triggers. Also, not sure if the wireless reciever would work with the XB1. I guess if the XB1 controller works with the 360( doubt it) then there is a chance but like stated, why wait till late 2013 to find out.

Game isn't what I wanted from a new GRID, reminds me a lot more of an old Need for Speed title which an be enjoyable in it's own way. What's more interesting though is that they have included an AVX enabled exe for the game along with the regular one, looks like they're preparing the engine for the transition to the new consoles. I am bummed out that there are some Intel only graphical effects, sure it's PixelSync API only but who is gaming on an IGP in any significant fashion... seems like a waste of time to me :)

I'm actually a bit disappointed with the new handling setup - things felt more intuitive/responsive and less arcade in the original. Not sure how long I can tolerate the obnoxious 'story' either..ugh. The DiRT dude-bro mentality has definitely seeped into this title...

It's not a bad game so far by any means, but I think I would have had a higher opinion of it had I not just started to replay GRID in anticipation of the sequel.

Is there a way to choose the handling like automated by the system or manually (i.e no traction control, no stability control etc like the old Grid).

Bought it last Thursday and so far I like it, only the voice comments annoyed me after a while I disabled them. The game is running well I play at 2560x1440 4xMSAA all settings maxed and my single Titan is at only 50-60% GPU load, its really just the fog effects pushing it to 90+ occasionally. It also seems to use the AVX extension of Sandy/Ivy CPU's or why is the process called grid2_avx.exe?

Agreed! First the 360 controller is way better than the Logitech. Second, I wouldn't hold my breath for Microsoft to do anything with the One to benefit PC gamers

How did you turn off the voice comments? I've been playing completely muted just because of those.

I like some of the new modes. It's fun and the landscapes are nice.

I just want more cars. Stuck with the same 5 for awhile now..

Yeah, where's all that extra content I was promised in the Steam pre order? Can't stand the Tier 2, 3 cars in online GRID.

Does any one ever have the game randomly close with a message from Steam saying the application has failed? Annoying as hell.

I bought a gamestop brand 360 controller for $25 and it works great, drivers downloaded and installed automatically once I plugged it in.

As for the game... I'm personally disappointed. I was hoping for a more realistic driving simulator with tuning and upgrade ability. What I got was more of an arcade style game even than the first Grid. Now you can't turn off/on things like ABS, traction control, etc. Guess I'm really just searching for a Forza or Gran Turismo type game, which as far as I know nothing like that exists for the pc. Makes me sad :(

I had plans to purchase a PS4 just for Gran Turismo 6, but according to this article it's going to be a PS3 game with a PS4 verison 'in mind.'

So bleh.

OT, sorry.

Bought it yesterday, gave it some half an hour of gameplay. I hate the handling of the car. Too much like Dirt 3.

After 9 hours I finally got a decent car, VW golf R. I own a GTI and the golf R performs exactly like my car. Far better than forza.

Yeah I go back and play GT5 a lot. It is a great one. PS3+ GT5 XL Edition + Logitech GT wheel = bliss. Can't wait to see how Project Cars turns out.

lol seriously?

Game is a good Arcade racer. I am in for the tracks and BRZ is absolutely a beast whilst drifting :D.
