I have a suggestion...

somebody who is knowledgable and fair, create a thread that lists the [H] recommended linux distro and maybe some pros/cons or scenarios where certain distributions are recommended over another.

Anybody want to take that on? Seems like a lot of threads on which distro to use. A FAQ or recommended list would really clean a lot of that up, and would be a big help to the newbs. You DO want more ppl to have a positive linux experience, right? (or would making it easy take out the leetness?)

I actually came in with the same question but wont ask out of fear the leetbags will flame for not searching!

Yep... and I'm not trying to sound rude, but trying to write a fair, complete, unbiased and accurate "sticky" covering all the available distros would be........ well, really hard.....Places like Distrowatch exist because of that....

I'm not trying to discredit your idea OP, but it would be too difficult and tedious to do. I'm mainly looking at the number of distros out there (even just the more popular ones) and many of them can have 1- 2 major releases per year. It would be practically impossible to keep everything updated to current.

It's a good idea, don't take it the wrong way, but most of us don't have the time and resources to do something like this and actually make it to where it is truly helpful.

I'm getting ready to rewrite a FAQ for another subforum that has fewer options which don't change nearly as often, yet it's going to take me an immense amount of time just to do that properly.

Thanks for the link!

Yes, if the information would be redundant, the link is more than plenty. Taking a read right now.
