Hey Guys!

Not sure if any of you remember me, I was the guy trying to get a Radeon 4670 for an OLD ASS AGP system.

Everyone told me to buy a new computer... I bit the bullet.

Anyway, I've been looking at GPU's because that's the last part i need.
I hear all kinds of arguments between N-Vidia and ATI.

Im looking to spend anywhere from $80-$120
Any advise?
Im looking for medium/high gaming performance.

Nothing to powerful because of limited funds.

My Mobo has 2 PCIe 2.0 X16 slots so i can run Cross-Fire or SLI.
But im only looking to buy one card.

Any suggestions welcome!

Why not get a slightly cheaper PSU (pay attention to quality however) rated for 430-550W continuous and spend the savings on a better GPU? As it stands your PSU is seriously mismatched and ridiculously (to the point of facepalm) overkill for your setup -- you're throwing efficiency out the window no matter what $80-120 GPU you choose. With a less-overkill PSU you could have better overall system synergy and fit in an HD 5770.

That works too. Drop the PSU to this:
$70 - Corsair 450VX 450W PSU

And get the XFX HD 5770 1GB video card.

I concur. For the future, you can even xfire the 5770 for better than 5850 performance.
 
I already bought the others parts, they're here and assembled.
I got this PSU because I can upgrade to almost anything as soon as i come into some bigger $$$

Dude, read the review I linked. That PSU is barely capable of 600W under the BEST conditions FFS. You just spent $120 on a low quality 600W PSU when you could have gotten a high quality 750W PSU for the same price.
 
Like others said that PSU is pretty bad.

Get HD5770 and try to sell your PSU and get some good PSU (Corsair, Seasonic etc.)

I can still do Cross-Fire.

And please, I'm now aware I made another fucking mistake buying that PSU.
I read the entire article and didn't see anywhere that it's only capable of 600W.

Im not going to sell the PSU, until I actually have a problem.
I think Im going with two HIS 4670 1GB And i'll just run Crossfire.
Im in for $190 and im running cross-fire with two decently powerful cards.

I can't complain.

I'm sorry, but why by the beard of Abraham would you CrossFire 2 cheap cards when you can get one FAR MORE POWERFUL 4890 or 5770 for the same price or less?

Don't CrossFire just because you can, or just to say "I'm running CrossFire!" Two cheap cards CrossFired does not make them automatically faster than a more expensive, faster card. CrossFire is most often used as a viable upgrade path.. get a powerful single card now, and CrossFire later when the prices on that identical GPU drop. No one ever CrossFires out of the gate unless they have two of the best cards available in mind. CrossFire does not magically double power or add power from a magical pot of gold. It is a feature for longevity (buy-later) or the highest possible performance at present (cost-no-option).

Hell, a 4850x2 is a much better option too. It's a single PCB with CrossFire that performs about as well as a 5850. Single-PCB XFire is a different story from two discrete cards.

I don't mean to keep harping on the fact that the PSU is awful, but:
And, we have set two new records. One for highest ever exhaust temperature at a burning hot ninety one degrees Celsius, and one for the most eye gouging awful performance I've seen to date where the power supply didn't blow up.

No! Get a 5770 or 4890 - they will both massively destroy 4670 crossfire.

I'm having some trouble with my usual calm down methods today, for one thing above all is obvious to me: the Coolmax CUG-950B is not a 950W power supply. It is not an 800W power supply. It is not a 700W power supply. It's a drastically overrated decently performing 600W power supply.

First you buy a craptastic PSU and now you're buying two low quality video cards just to say "I'm running Crossfire???" That's a extremely poor choice considering that a single HD 5770 would outperform two HD 4670 1GB in CF while using less power. If you really wanted to use Crossfire so much, you should have just gone with the HD 5670 1GB cards for the same prices as the HD 4670 1GB cards.
 
yeah a 4670 crossfire setup is silly and even a 5670 crossfire setup is a poor choice compared to a single 5770. its slower more than half the time, uses more power and costs more than a single 5770.
 
Do not worry about your PSU, yes it is not a great unit and you overpaid, but it should power your system fine and what is done, is done. However you can prevent another mistake, do not go for 4670 crossfire and wasting of your funds. Pick up a 4850, 5750 or 5770 and you'll get much more for your money. A single 5770 is a much better choice that two 4670's. Shop around, I got my Powercolor 5770 PCS+ for $140 shipped.
 
I would say a HD4850 they have them at BestBuy on sale for $85. That is unless you wan't the HD5770 for dx 11 capabilities and a little lower power consumption.

well basic math would show you that a 4670 crossfire setup would have no chance against a 5770.

cfire 4670=640 total sp at 750mhz
single 5770=800 sp at 850mhz

we dont even have to go any further than that and discuss all the other reasons why.
