I just started into my Graphic Design program, and I'm thinking of building a dedicated system for my work. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. I also do wedding photography sometimes, so will be working on lots of photos once in a while.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Primarily for Photoshop, lightroom, Illustrator, and some light gaming (AOE online, Diablo 3, maybe).
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1000 or less.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Silicon Valley, CA, USA
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, RAM, Case, PS, GPU.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
My HDD for storage, but I'm thinking of going SSD for the OS, and major Apps.
6) Will you be overclocking?
NO
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
I have dual 23 on my Dell now, a 24" 1080P, and also the 27 Apple Cinema Display.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
NOW
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
I've been out of loop for a while, so I really not sure, but I want to have USB 3.0 and connection for SSD I suppose. Not going to OC, and I want to have a dedicated Video card.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, Windows 7 - 64bit.
I currently have an old Dell Quad, and also a Dell XPS 15z (i5). I'm using my laptop as the primary now, and it's actually driving the ACD. My laptop seems to be powerful enough, but I just want to have dedicated power desktop for heavy graphic use.
Anyway, I hope someone can point me to the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
